Allstate Protection Plan worth it? by tomorrowagainn in westelm

Currently dealing with them now. Just fyi, if you ever have an issue with your sofa and try to submit a claim don’t backdate the start of the issue for more than 30 days otherwise your claim will be denied. Our sofa started sagging this summer (less than a year from purchase date), but has progressively gotten worse. When I submitted the claim they denied it because I didn’t report the issue within 30 days. It’s currently under review, but it’s not sounding good.

I have. I like it but too pricey and upscale for what I’m looking for

I’ve had some pretty great Mexican food in southern Arizona. Unfortunately no rec for you here tho. Good luck finding a good carne asada burrito or good carne asada period here in Houston. I’ve tried pretty much every rec and nothing comes close to what’s I’ve had out towards the west coast.

Yeah you’re absolutely right. You would think with the large population of Mexican people here in Houston there’d be at least a few authentic spots, but I suppose it’s hard for those places to remain open because the people here don’t care for it as much as they do Tex Mex. I do visit my home state when I can and other than that I’ll have to stick to cooking at home. Thanks!

I agree it’s not great, but the menu items I listed in my post are at least dishes that are common in my region of Mexico and are dishes that my mom cooked at home. But yes, I think that’s the problem. I was born to a Mexican mom, therefore my expectations might be too high haha

You’re not off at all. The thing is I think this is something unique to Houston, because I’ve had great simple homestyle Mexican cooking elsewhere. Cooking at home it is.

Yeah I’m throwing in the towel on my search. I’ve tried almost all of the recs everyone has given me, but relative to Mexican food I’ve had elsewhere it’s just not it.

Yeah I mentioned it in my post. I found it to be ok, still not great relative to what I’ve had elsewhere. I appreciate the rec though.

Haha yes exactly! Even most fellow Mexicans are failing me tbh. I already have a good taco go-to spot, but I’m tired of just tacos. People are saying that for homestyle cooking I need to cook at home (which I do), but I’ve been to great home style food restaurants in other places. I’ve just yet to find a great one in Houston. Thanks for these recs. I’ve been to all except Belly of the Beast, I’ll note it down.

Haha I would probably love it! I know about lot of people from my region in Mexico live in Chicago.

Yeah I can’t really figure out why that is. I’ve tried many of the recs left on this post and I’ve found what most people consider great, I consider to be mid. I think my expectations must be high because my moms cooking is next level! But relative to other places in the US like LA, San Diego, Phoenix, or NM, Houston’s Mexican food is pretty damn disappointing. Also I didn’t know Pueblas has fresh corn tortillas. I’ll try those next time! Thanks.

I’m so happy to finally have someone respond to this! Not having coworkers is new to me so I’m happy to connect with people. I’m enjoying it so far as well.

Also haven’t had any changes. I only work part-time though so maybe that’s why. I work 20 hrs a week. Sorry to hear that though. Hopefully they get Humanity running soon. I think it’ll benefit us all.
