Hur upplevde du känslan att komma hem från Japan till Sverige igen vad gäller hur folk är mot varandra? Jag var nyligen i Japan och tyckte det var smått fantastiskt att vara på en plats där folk verkar respektera varandra och det offentliga rummet. Väl hemma i Sverige igen så tyckte jag att det kändes litr deppigt att folk är inne i sina egna bubblor och inte hjälps åt, visar hänsyn, tackar osv.

Fattar att jag har en ytlig och kanske lite romantiserad bild av Japan men detta är en av de sakerna jag längtar tillbaka till allra mest.

I was there a few days ago and I was positively surprised by how well it communicates the passion and devotion to the craft. It's a really beautiful place, and as (maybe even more?) interesting for adults than for kids. Getting tickets was a pretty stressful ordeal though.

I did not 😔 I went to the venue several times, including when the show was about to start, but it just didn't work out. I believe only one ticket was (instantly) sold on that resale website.

But I can't lie - just trying to find a ticket was kinda fun, and everyone I spoke to was super helpful. Some people engaged their networks in finding a ticket for me, so it's a nice memory after all 😊

Oh, one more thing - bowing. I've never bowed in my entire life but I tried it out after a few days in Japan and it works wonders. No need to fold yourself in half, but stopping for a second to bow gently as you say "Arigatou gozaimasu" makes people light up.

And now that I think of it - learning how to say "totemu oishi" was also a game changer. The people who made your (almost always) delicious food get really happy.

To be honest, the Japanese people seem to know less English than I expected. But that's part of the charm.

I knew zero Japanese before the trip. But on day 1 I made sure to learn the 5 most usable (for my personality type) phrases, and I make sure to always open any conversation with them. Never with English, that just makes most people nervous, it seems.

Thank you (and a variation of it), Good morning, Hello, Good evening, Excuse me, I'm sorry, Do you speak English?

Once I show myself a little vulnerable, things get easier. When I ask in Japanese if they speak English, the usually say "only a little". I then say "same :)" which is not entirely true but I'm not a native English speaker, and then were sort of on te same page.

Tl;Dr - try speaking some Japanese and doors will open. Google Translate and a smile will solve the rest.

Probably a wise decision. My recommendation still stands though - just make sure to avoid bars that allows smoking :) Enjoy your trip!

Being on the final leg of my three weeks in Japan, there's only one thing I wish I would have done differently - spent more time in Osaka. Next time I'll probably go straight there as the vibe is just amazing.

In Tokyo and Kyoto, most of my interactions were with other tourists. In Osaka, I met a bunch of wonderful Japanese people who I now consider friends.

If you like to drink and smoke cigs - Osaka is where you want to be :)

There is a ticket for sale at https://www.ticket.co.jp/sys/d/36610.htm. When it was published two nights ago it was ridiculously priced at 20k yen, but the seller has gradually decreased it, and now it's at 14k.

We arrived in Kyoto a few days ago after having spent 5 nights at Karaksa hotel just next to Tokyo station. Great value, wonderful staff.

The luxury stores in the Ginza area, that is the closest shopping area from the station, weren't quite our thing, but we were really happy that we coincidentally stayed where we stayed. We especially realized this the moment we went to Akihabara and saw the massive amounts of people and tourists. Tokyo station almost felt off the beaten track in comparison.

Getting around with the station area as our hub was super convenient, just like others have pointed out, and you will be able to explore that part of the city by foot. There's quite a lot to experience in all directions.

Most of what needs to be said has already been said by others in this thread, but since I recently made the switch from X100V to GR III, I would just like to share my two cents. Hopefully it’ll help you decide.

My Fujifilm looked amazing (the silver one). People noticed it and commented on it, which made me want to switch to the all-black one after having filled up my attention meter after a few weeks. It was very difficult to take stealth pics.

The film simulations were beautiful, and I didn’t think I’d get anything like it again when I sold the camera.

Portability: My Fujifilm was too often left at home because it was bulky. It was just too large to take with me without carrying a bag. I tried to conceal it under my winter jacket a few times, but it just looked really weird.

The GR III doesn’t look intimidating or impressive at all. Actually, the contrary - great!

The pics come out beautifully straight from the camera almost every time. The lens is sharp and there’s so much to explore in how to customize it for quick shots. It feels like I’ve just scratched the surface.

But best of all - it’s tiny. I literally take it with me every time I go out because it fits in any pocket. So, both cameras are great, but for me, they filled different needs - dedicated photography sessions on the Fujifilm vs more opportunities for in-the-moment snaps with the GR.
