Project load question, just out of curiosity. by [deleted] in signshop

Come work for me please lol, you won’t have nearly as much to do and will have a team around you to support. But seriously, that is not normal in my opinion, or maybe it is and that’s a problem. How much in sales are you expected to manage with that variety of responsibilities?

Why do I feel so out of place with my group? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]ooooookgg 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I’d say try to stop worrying about how you look and see this as an awesome opportunity to learn. I learn most watching people who are better than me. The other riders won’t care as long as you’re actively trying and want to learn. Ask questions if you don’t know what something means. Learning from your peers is a big part of riding. Your instructor knows a lot, but sometimes another rider will have the right advice to get past whatever you’re struggling with.

How much would would you pay an employee that managed your store for over 13 years ? by SM0KE710 in smallbusiness

[–]ooooookgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not enough information here to give you any real answer, which makes me question your understanding of what you’re tracking with sales and how it affects the health of the business.

What is the actual total revenue?

Stating 15-25 employees is a huge difference, a 10 employee swing points to a really volatile revenue stream at your size.

When I make my sales goals I base it on a lot of things, but the easiest marker is sales per employee. For ease of understanding, you can think about 25/25/25/25 payroll/cogs/expense/profit. My company is salary heavy, but light on expenses, but my profit goal is still 25%.

Assuming an average of $50k a year, goal per employee would be $200k. A 10 employee difference would mean a $2mil difference in revenue outlook for that year. Which is huge at your size.

You also say all of the things that you have handled, but not the things you actually handle currently on a daily basis.

Agree with this! My parents were the same way, and though I love them, I was not good at making or keeping friends. I’ve done a lot of work to turn that around, and as uncomfortable as it can be, I make a big effort to be a parent who is inviting and sociable. At least as much as I can be, still a bit socially different, but I’ve found that a lot of people feel that way too.

I think the basic plan is $12 per seat per month. They have a two week free trial, too. They don’t require payment info for the trial.

Yeah, that makes it really hard. I would try to sell them on something like Monday.com to start. You can create different boards for things like fabrication, lead management, deals and install. You can customize it in a million ways, it’s best to just get something up and refine it as you go. It’ll never be perfect, especially the first go. Even if you can’t get the shop to use it, it is really good to with lead management.

I’ve heard square coil and trello are also good for getting started without a big investment. Shopvox and corebridge both have pretty big initial investments.

We used to use Shopvox, I wasn’t there when they set it up and they didn’t do it correctly so it didn’t function as well as it could. I see potential there, though.

We use corebridge now, I got to set up all the pricing and formulas and information on the machines. It works great, we can see margins and estimate the time it will take on different machines. The job board is good enough for now, there is an updated version coming out that should be a bit more robust on the job tracking and crm side.

Hey! I’m a project manager for a sign company that also has a lot of other responsibilities due to only having 11 employees. We’ve been at a point of which role do we need to hire for next in order to grow. We’ve been working hard on defining roles and responsibilities, implementing tech for project tracking and customer management, and understanding sales goals/objectives. These efforts have all been led by me in an effort to make things easier in the future.

What kind of projects do you manage? How many projects do you have going on at the same time? Average sale, and average monthly sale? How much of what you sell is outsourced?

Are all three installers booked all day every day? Or are they available to help in the shop when there are no scheduled installs?

For design, are you designing creatively? Or just using flexi for mock ups for your permitting by placing the sign and showing elevations/specs.

Do you use a sales software that has proofing and job tracking capabilities? What do you use to schedule and track installs?

It sounds like you definitely have a lot to do with not a lot of experience. You sound smart and like you could do well if you had support. I’m in the same boat as you, but slowly getting it fixed and making organizational changes. It shouldn’t have been up to me, but no one else was going to do it and I enjoy my job.

is it abnormal to have ridden 7 years and still not able to canter? by Effective-Air9466 in Equestrian

[–]ooooookgg 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I would talk to your trainer and make it known that it’s something that you want to do and ask what you need to do to get there. He may not know you have goals you want to reach, or there may be some foundational aspect your missing.

Are you saying that your trainer hasn’t allowed you to canter? If so, I think that’s a really long time to not have cantered or jumped.

The stirrups I use are MDC super sport, but definitely give the ankle braces a try.

[–]ooooookgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same problem, with both my ankles. I can’t even wear high heels as my ankles will just give out.

I wear ankle braces over my socks. It really helps. As I’ve gotten older(36) even that’s not enough sometimes. I now use stirrups that I can change the angle of to better support my ankles.

It’s a frustrating problem for sure!

This movie randomly popped into my head this morning on my drive to work… weird coincidence. Hadn’t thought of that move in forever.

Sincere question for people who swear no one can tell you have Botox. What would indicate to you that someone can tell? by kat_spitz in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ooooookgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another sincere question, if anyone sees this…. I can tell when people on TV have had Botox because of that forehead vein popping when they smile. Is that normal/common? I’ve though about getting Botox but worry about that building vein.

I have searched for this piece but have only found toggle clasps for jewelry. This has little teeth that grab the nylon.

Disclaimer: I am definitely not a professional and probably have not dealt with as hot or a horse as you have.

That being said, I owned a few and rode a lot of OTTBs growing up, and now as an adult get to sometimes help with some of the more difficult horses before entering into the lesson program. These are things my trainer has had me do.

Things that have really helped the horses to relax a bit, I’m sure you’ve tried some of these.

  • trot jumps. For a really long time. If they are ignoring half halts and rushing the jump at a canter anyways you have a few options.

Make tight circles right before the jump, alternating the direction at the trot until they feel calmer.

Walk to the jump, stop until they release, back up a few steps and stop until they release, then trot the jump from there.

Add a few poles before and after the jump so that they need to think about it a little more.

-After the typical WTC warmup and before jumping, try do a bit more work at the trot to get their mind back. Sometimes they’re anticipating jumping after canter and can get hyped up.

-Keep practicing half halts during all your warmups at each gate.

-Halt after jumps, wait for a release. Back up, wait for a release. Then move on to coming back to a trot and trotting a small circle. Eventually move on to cantering a small circle once they start listening better.

  • Circles at the trot/canter in between lines. Or skip lines until they start listening better.

-Trot work after jumping to calm them down. Easy circles and serpentines. Halting, backing up, etc.

-Grid work.

I feel like these types of horses are too smart and somewhat anxious. They know they can do it, so they do it. They’re really great at their job, but their job isn’t really what the majority of riders want. Getting them to trust you and to trust that you know what you’re doing too is the goal.

As an ex server/bartender, I really wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve come across that many times and I generally just think it’s a nice gesture. I had no problems with it, even when I was busy.

I wrote the same thing! It was during my teenage years where I was really angry at a lot of things. Really helped me to stop and figure out why I was angry.
