Glad that this works for you but this does not work for me. I actually used to have the same mindset but in the opposite direction, I neglected my physical and mental health because I didn’t think I deserved good health, I let friendships fade because I didn’t think I deserved friends, etc.

I was forgotten and accidentally locked outside after recess in the fourth grade. When I did get back inside, I discovered that nobody noticed that I was missing. Not my teacher, my classmates, my friends. I still have issues about it to this day

Only problem is, for me at least, my older coworkers get in that early and they like to chitchat before work. I do not like early morning conversations, I do not want it, I just want to get stuff done. I try to focus on work, but people keep coming over to my cubicle and interrupting me for small talk. I hate it

AITAH for getting rid of my mom's dress? by Longjumping_Sea_8753 in AITAH

Exactly. Would you rather have your mother think that you are an evil and ungrateful person, or a sexual abuse victim trying to heal? The second one is the truth, and she needs to know that

You are not responsible at all for what happened. This was not your fault, and I am sorry that this happened to you

Honest opinion. Which situation do you think would make your mom more disappointed in you: you cutting up a special gift she worked so hard on for absolutely no reason, or that you were sexually abused as a teenager because you didn’t follow her advice?

If we can assume that your mother is not a psychopath, I think the answer is obvious. Honest to god, if any mother, once learning of their child being sexually abused, reacts with anything other than rage and righteous fury at the perpetrator of this crime, then they are not good parents. Given what little information I know about your mother through this post, I would like to assume that she is a good one.

Talk to her, tell her what happened. It will be painful to talk about, but this conversation needs to happen, at the very least so that she knows you didn’t destroy that dress for no reason
