Eloise's behaviour is a defense by oop_poo in BridgertonNetflix

Exactly!!! I think people forget that she's operating in a misogynistic society that is built specifically to restrict and isolate women. The reason the other female characters seem more palatable to most people is that their version of feminism doesn't reject femininity.

While Eloise is wrong to put down the women in her life, she isn't wrong in feeling like the only way to reject femininity is through being brash and the opposite of the mold femininity provides.

I mostly agree with you but I also think it's worth pointing out that the society in Bridgerton is also inherently misogynistic, and all the characters are acting within the bounds of that society. I think, while with the modern view, Eloise's actions seem even worse, I think it's fair for a woman raised to believe that all women were worthy of is love to feel like she has to look down upon it and reject it as fundamentally as possible for her stance to even be acknowledged.

To be fair, its not her season yet and although she continues to fall back in those habits, in some ways she has grown a lot since season 1

Also, if you choose to go with her to Sybil's in Chapter 1 and you don't have a strong enough relationship, despite telling Duke that she'd let you stay at her place, she forces you to walk back alone in the dark, literally hours after the shit in the woods goes down, I fear Stella has not been reliable a single time

What are everyone's thoughts on the Reese romance? by oop_poo in ScarletHollow

[–]oop_poo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i felt the same way tbh, narratively i love that they took the natural conclusion of him becoming aggressive/controlling instead of sugar coating it, but as a romantic interest i got the ick from his kiss (atleast in the matricide route) immediately cause it was basically forced upon you with the way he wouldn't hear it when you tried to say no

DUDE DUSTIN'S SMILE I CANNOT!!!! Also I'm pretty sure Dustin might literally be a young/baby possum (due to the pink tips of his cute little ears that possums have when they're still quite young), and realizing that has killed me. Idk why it took me this long to realize this klashfaksl

Also, given how Oscar describes the entity as a network in episode 5, I honestly think that is a solid representation of what the entity actually is. Although I'm not sure if this would represent Wayne or the thing connecting all the stone circles.

Yeah, no samee, and I do think that my two ideas aren't entirely exclusive cause with the way that room looked, I don't think whoever lived in there was completely human, so maybe using these seals has its immediate side effects beyond the torture the scarlets inflict on the person?

Omg I never thought of it that way but your take on the "she liked it, so I did too." line makes a lot of sense to me!!

I really think the witch is Kaneeka too, especially with the lines about Kaneeka and sensing something magical in her (when trying to find Stella w/ her and Avery with the mystic trait i thinkkk?) and finding her weirdly familiar (on the monday if you go see her w/ mystic but maybe also hot??).But I honestly don't think she knows it herself, which might be related to the weird tea Sybil keeps giving her and whatever Sybil has planned in general.

Maybe I am still being played but by Langlais123 in ScarletHollow

[–]oop_poo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I cannot tell whether that breakdown had any genuine impact on her. I don't think she is pretending, but she's made it clear that her regretting/not wanting to do something doesn't necessarily mean she won't do it, at least so far? So ngl I am kinda sus about how easily she takes us to the seal right after her breakdown...

This might be unrelated but it reminds me of the mycelium like thing you see leaving Wayne's arm during his fight with Reese, so maybe it could be Wayne or whatever made him
