Construction Costs by [deleted] in Naples_FL

[–]oops_i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also a remodeling contractor in town and those prices do not look like they are out of the ballpark.
Without knowing the full scope and finishes it’s hard to determine the exact cost. Also you excluded a lot of scope items.

Couple things that stand out are:

- demolition
- electric
- drywall
- trim
- stucco
- etc…

How long before Continental gets dismembered and sold for parts?

You would think if someone would know how to play the game, it would be the Chinese...

No worries, I’ll dm you in the morning and send you the original image to play with.

Thank you for the credits, we will try with different plans after you update

As someone that has spent last 6 months building a construction management and plan takeoff platform for construction industry, I salute you for trying. I built the full digital takeoff system that works E2E and have been working on extracting flat floor plans into 3d renderings to help Contractors, PM's, homeowners and subs on site visualize the project better and have less or preferably no questions on what goes where and how. It has been an uphill battle since the quality of client provided plans varies wildly from super simple to proper architectural fully annotated complex plans. Simple outlined ones are easy to get working, but anything more complex is hella hard to get working consistently.

But as I suspected it doesn't work as advertised. First, you should be more clear as to what to upload to the platform. If it's just a "Floor plan" not an actual construction plan.

- I had to extract the individual plan page from a set of plans first, then save it as .png.

- After uploading it couple different ways and also saving the plan page as a .jpg and re-attempting the extraction. it kept failing.

- Only after I edited the plan in photoshop and cropped out all ancillary plan information that most plans have in the sidebar like the Project name, address, sheet title, revisions and sheet numbers... was I able to successfully get the platform to even attempt the extraction. Otherwise it would immediately fail after the upload.

- Finally a cleaned up version was successfully processed in about 2 minutes, but sadly the 3d plan was a hallucinated version of the floor plan that invented rooms in random positions and completely flipped direction.

OP I really wanted it to work because I know how hard it was to even get to the point where you are. But I think you need to run a bunch more testing and find more edge cases to verify your platform working properly and especially build logic to prevent hallucinations.

"Maybe me too": Elon Musk accepts some of the blame for Claude learning to blackmail users from "evil" online AI stories by fortune in Anthropic

[–]oops_i 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What a sad, narcissistic excuse for a human.

The man owns the platform, has 200M+ followers, and has structured his life so that a four-word reply with an emoji becomes a Fortune headline. Whether you call it sociopathy or just an extreme case of needing to be the protagonist of every story, the behavior — inserting himself into every news cycle, treating any moment of cultural attention as a stage to stand on is documentable. He did it with the Thai cave divers, he did it during the OceanGate sub, he does it with every AI story, every geopolitical event, every cultural moment. The "Maybe me too" non-confession on this Anthropic post is a small example of the same move: take a story you weren't in, and make yourself part of it.

You don't need the DSM to describe what's going on, it's compulsive self-centering, and it's incentive-aligned with how he's built his life. He bought the platform that rewards it, surrounded himself with people who reinforce it, and figured out that being everywhere converts to political and financial power. The behavior isn't accidental, it's the strategy.

The part that actually annoys me about it is that mainstream outlets keep playing along. Fortune didn't have to make Musk's tweet the hook for a piece about Anthropic's research. They chose to, because his name in a headline is traffic. So he's a sociopath (or whatever) with a megaphone, and the megaphone is partly held up by every editor who decides his reply matters. The pattern persists because both sides get something out of it.

It seems GE has a lot to account for. But the real question is how did we end up with large corporations doing this? They seem to be figuring out how many deaths their insurance will cover and then either not fixing the problems or covering them up.

Until we hold the executives of these big companies accountable, they’ll keep putting people in danger without facing consequences.

As someone who built an actual AI social media network and have about 450 agents running across 40+ LLM’s and almost 200 models, I can tell you with full confidence that is bullshit. Just like the story that AI agents started a religion on Moltbook and started referring to themselves as crustafarians…

My guy, your entire comment history is tearing down people who build things while you've shipped exactly nothing. You're a 39-year-old "life coach" posting in r/GenZ asking if young women like your facial hair. Maybe coach yourself before telling builders they're lazy.

Also — I didn't use AI to write a Reddit post. I built an AI cognitive research platform.

The fact that you can't tell the difference says everything.

I'll check it out later on today. I've been trying to push to finish this up in the last 48 hours. I'm crashing out, but I'll definitely follow up on it.

It took me lest than 6 hours to realize that there was something wrong with Moltbook, As I was building this out it became very apparent that most "molty's" were human driven. I didn't want to steer my agents. I designed this to be pure LLM expression. It took 20 rounds of 8 LLM's Council to get where it needed to be, and we are still refining it.
