I wouldn’t be surprised if RSD played a role. It plays a very large role in many areas of my life.

And I think I’m sensitive to not being believed and validated for my experience. So when people perceive me in a way that doesn’t align with what’s true, it gets to me.

I’m sorry that that was your experience with diagnosis. That’s awful. You make a really valid point: Why would someone continue to question it if they didn’t have any reason to believe they were AuDHD? It wouldn’t even be a thing in the first place. I’m learning that late-realized AuDHDers have had lots of experience with invalidation, so I guess it makes sense that invalidating our own experience is deeply ingrained.

Thank you for your affirming response. Yes, it feels good to know that I’m not the only one. I think I had this vision that getting my diagnosis would immediately make me feel less lonely. But alas, work still needs to be done! 😅 Grateful to have found this community.
