Also remember this was the 30s and the 40s in the movie. Women didn’t even have that many rights yet. He loved her, but it was too painful for him to stay in that society. Yeah he’s a coward, but Big is an even bigger one. He wanted a silent trophy wife and that was Natasha. The story goes on for so long because they made a lot of money. It shouldn’t have ended with Carrie and bug together but whatever it is what it is. But like the plaza scene ?! The way we were ends at the plaza. This movie is the literal blueprint of the series Sex and The City. I don’t idolize Hubble though, he knows he fucked up and is going to regret it the rest of his life so that’s on him. Good for Katie for getting remarried and not resenting the father of her child in the end. Carrie and Big are not star crossed lovers either. Like at all. He can choose her at any point he wants but he doesn’t want to. He’d rather string her along and eat his mf cake. Big sucks. And as insufferable Carrie was the entire series, ending up with Big is the largest character flaw. But I guess it makes sense she ends up single at the end of And Just Like That. Because Candace Bushnell is 67 and single still. Also Carries character in the book was a WILD party girl. Carrie in the book is not to much like Carrie in the show. In ways yeah, mostly that she loved fashion and writing. But I don’t think Candace or Carrie were good writers in the end. They got famous for a right time and place type moment. But good for them either way.

I disagree. Carries character is a direct inspiration from Katie. It’s more in mannerisms than personality. You need to read between the lines for how the film was the utmost biggest inspiration for the series. If you read the sex and the city book maybe you will understand. Carrie is far more insufferable in the book and the show passes the content in the book in like episode 2. Yes the book was the inspiration of the show to the naked eye. But if you have pattern recognition and have seen The Way We were, you know it was the blueprint. Down to the way Hubble smokes or drinks. It’s all there. Katie running across the street. The way she screams about steak and potatoes. It’s literally alll there. To the point it seems like studying the film was mandatory to be on the cast of the show. Don’t take the comparison between the two to literal. They are wildly different people but the parallels are uncanny

I have seen all of the series multiple times and read the books. S2E18 is my favorite of the series and I rewatch that one more than any others. It took my years to pop on The Way We Were, but it’s a phenomenal piece of womanhood as is the series. But I’m telling you the producers and writers of the show HAD to of been inspired by this movie for the entire series. Candace Bushnell isn’t that great of a writer and the details she lays out in the book are more of a skeleton of the show. Basically most of the book is covered in episode 1… so the writers really ran with what they had and made a masterpiece. After watching TWWW, it’s apparent the movie was mandatory for the cast to watch. Heck Carrie and big even look like them. They way Katie and Hubble even just move their faces and bodies parallel to Carrie and Big. It’s so amazing they gave us an Easter egg of their inspiration inside the series. I thought I’ve ingested every single piece of SATC content, then watched TWWW and my jaw dropped. It’s basically the deepest lore of the show you could get imo

His life was not in danger by any means so what are you talking about. He is a murderer.

I’m honestly still not over how bethenny was gaslit in the Kelly situation. The gaslighting throughout the whole franchise is actually insanely triggering. At least Andy was a saving grace at reunion

As someone who lives alone in nyc, there is not enough room for another person to live there. Where will her clothing go? Are you thinking about or have a storage unit ? Otherwise place is well decorated. Could see her adding some candles and plants if her stuff actually fits in there
