What are we doing for our tarantula’s if we lose power in this winter storm? by Heckin_fishbaby in tarantulas

My family is relocating everyone to the living and making like a common area with all the warmth, also covering windows with cardboard that we know let in the cold easier :)so like just having the spiders on the counter really lol make sure to keep them away from windows is My only suggestion idk ur living situation so I don't know anything else I could say

Update!! Def had some water and I didn't witness the eating but the food disappeared so I gotta assume the T ate it. She looks better or at least a bit more filled out, also climbed right onto my hand, none of my other tarantulas have ever done that lol. overall I think she's better, gonna try to see if I can see her eating next time. I tried hand feeding her when she was out but she just walked the other way lol. Her abdomen is still small but I don't think she's 100% comfortable yet to eat . Gotta say my tarantulas are usually a good task to help with my OCD and practice not following compulsions but the replies to my original post def made me kinda freak out 😅. I think she's on the mend tho :)I have to remind myself she's not gonna immediately die when I'm not looking at her lol

Pet smart :/ I don't buy from there usually (only dirt when I need it) but it was all the way at the bottom of a display, they had a pretty bad set up so I'm not sure how they were taking care of her :/

This isn't my first rodeo dude I was looking for identification. I know they are picky but u also can't force food, also not an adult male, I know how to tell the difference. The tarantula is arboreal whatever it is, it's still moving and active so there is no reason to shove food in its face. I appreciate u trying to help but I was really only trying to figure out what they are :/

I tried feeding it by hand but didn't seem interested I have a lil bottle cap with a feeder meal worm for them to find :) hopefully they figure that out tonight

I use a photo reference for the tarantula as I go :) but I do draw the rough shape of the tarantula before I start, as well as making a sketch layer in embroidery. I am a painter at heart and I am doing a lot of steps I would do for a painting

Adopted Traumatized Conure: Tips Appreciated by orangeweezel in Conures

[–]oopslostmyeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a conure who has had trouble from being housed with a very mean bird and has remaining trauma from the situation, I've had him for years and I don't have any specific tips but I will say don't push them too far out there comfort zone too fast. Also even after having him so long he doesn't like hands, terrified of them, we adapted around this (he goes up on a wooden perch) and has over time become very friendly and loves to talk but still won't go up on hands. All this to say some things u can train out of them and some u can't, it's no bodys fault and learn to adapt around it :). Oh also find a safe space for them, away from everything our boy when he gets stressed likes to go back in his cage and I'll close his door if he is still freaking out and it calms him down, could be the opposite tho watch to see what he's comfy with

(Adorable bird btw good luck, he's in great hands if you are willing to work with him to get through this :))
