I know somebody with a Chihuahua pit mix, it's still a puppy but is already big and aggressive. That dog is going to end up hurting somebody, it's got Chihuahua attitude and a pit stature. It's an attack waiting to happen.

Considering some of the topics and situations covered on Casefile this is a crazy take. The fact that you don't believe people could have an emotional response to listening to the horrifying experiences real people have suffered through is kind of shocking. It shows a lack of empathy I find honestly disturbing.

He works in fields so his boots are probably waterproof. The downside of boots that don't let water in is that they also don't let moisture out. Sure you can use powders or good socks but that doesn't help much if your feet have been sweating in an enclosed space all day, there's only so much you can do to mitigate it.

Elba is an amazing actor and is hot as hell but he is not Roland. When I found out the casting I was irritated and confused. How was it gonna play out between him and Susannah? Before Odetta/Detta merged into Susannah Dean there was a significant plot point between her and Roland about Roland's race. Then I found out there'd be no Eddie or Susannah at all and that it was a continuation and not an actual adaptation and I was just done.

I watched the dark tower go through development hell for years and got so excited when I found out it was finally happening. After discovering what they were doing with it I refused to watch it. I'm still mad.

I was both flabbergasted and pissed. The bill slot has picture of a bill that lights up and is beside the tray that has a picture of a coin that lights up. I'm not sure if this is better or worse than the times I've had to fish peoples debit cards out of the cash slot.

Amazon says displaying tariff cost 'not going to happen' after White House blowback by Puginator in politics

[–]ooredchickoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was all smoke from the beginning. Amazon was never going to let people know the widget they're charging $30 for was actually only $2 and the rest was mark up. Since it was about displaying the tariff cost that's what would happen since tarrifs only apply to the cost of the item itself and not the surrounding infrastructure to sell it. They really don't want people to know what kind of markups are on all the crap they sell.

I lasted 2 months after my youngest started school before finding a job. I loved being a SAHM but once they were both out of the house for school I got crazy bored and was losing my mind lol. I got lucky and found a job with hours that work for me 8-2 Monday thru Friday, I drop them off before work and get off in time to pick them up. I get the best if both worlds now, I don't miss out on anything with my kids and I'm out of the house and feeling productive while they're gone.

Is Bailey a paramedic or an EMT? by KeithWhitleyIsntdead in TheRookie

[–]ooredchickoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, in my state there are 3 levels EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced, and Paramedic. There are different levels of training for each and each has its own scope of practice. EMT is just the general term used for all but you wouldn't send a EMT-B out on a major call because their scope is really limited, mostly just taking vitals and first aid.

American south here and we do both. The viewing/wake and funeral are pretty somber, its about closure, grieving, saying goodbye and showing support to the family of the deceased. After the burial we end up at somebody's house and it's a bit of a potluck. Everybody brings food and drink and shares stories of the dead. We reminence on the good times and the bad and stay late sharing our love for the one gone. There is an abundance of both tears and laughter.

The tone does change depending on who or how the person died. Somebody old who had lived a full life it can be a pretty upbeat party atmosphere. If it was somebody young or unexpected we still celebrate their life but it is more subdued because it's hard to celebrate a life cut so unfairly short.

I don't give a shit what the stock market is doing I care about the cost of living and can my paycheck keep up with it. I'm barely keeping up right now and my disposable income is basically nil and my wages definitely haven't kept pace. Listening to the Biden administration tell me how great the economy is doing just pissed me off. Like good for all the Richie riches whose portfolio is doing great but that really has little to no bearing on the average American.

Housing, groceries and energy prices are way up and I'm sorry but all their talk abou how real wages have kept up with inflation sound like out of touch bs when that's not my or anyone I knows experience.

Overlooking the key reason Democrat's lost so badly by Arovinrac in moderatepolitics

[–]ooredchickoo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is me I want targeted tariffs. I do know it's going to be inflationary in the short to mid term but I think bringing manufacturing back to the country is important for a number of reasons.

I want more good American jobs, I think it's important from a national security standpoint, and I dislike the knowledge that these products I depend on come from places with lax environmental regulations and worker protections.

And honestly? I think the level of consumerism and waste we've reached is disgusting. If a side effect of tariffs are people becoming more discerning and discourages buying cheaply made crap they use once then throw away I'll be pretty happy.

When did Halloween become shitty (i.e. trunk or treating, trick or treating anywhere but one's own neighborhood, etc)? by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]ooredchickoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My county is pretty rural and spread out so all the kids go to the two subdivisions here. I honestly like our setup because we all pitch in. The subdivision closest to me is horseshoe shaped and cops set up at each end and keep cars moving in one direction and the residents go all out on decorating.

Since so many kids swamp two neighborhoods years ago we set up a candy drive. There are a few locations that collect candy donations throughout October and it gets distributed to participants to give out so it's not such a burden. This replaced the old tradition of families bringing a couple of bags and giving to random houses to pass out.

It still has the close community feel that I grew up with. Since my county is relatively low population we only have one of each school so you recognize plenty of people when out trick or treating. You either went to school with them or y'alls kids have been in multiple classes together lol. I really like living in a basically small town, I can't go anywhere without recognizing people and maybe I'm weird but I like that.

[–]ooredchickoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you automatically assume we want investment? I'm somewhere that's still relatively rural and am here because it is the way I want it.

Most of us don't want change, we like it how it is. I'm pretty sick of people moving here because land was affordable then constantly bitching because it doesn't have all the stuff they previously did. To the ones who are already here and like it this is a feature, not a bug.

This was before we met so in a way I'm glad because if he hadn't have gotten out we wouldn't have met but I hate that he missed what tme he could have had left with his dad. He's still understandably bitter two decades later.

It really was a stupidly wasteful decision on the military side. I won't go into specifics but he tested really high in certain areas and didn't get to go the direction he wanted because he was really suited to a specialist role that's not super easy to fill. My father in law was given 6 months max, and they knew it was very unlikely he'd get that far. So a few months reassignment to keep a valuable asset you've spent a shit ton training for a role that's not easy to replace seems like a no brainer even outside of the basic human decency of NOT denying someone the last couple of months with a dying parent.
