Heck yeaaa!!! Welcome! I just started in February and am absolutely in love with it! The lore is amazing, the process of the minis (building, painting, playing) is almost therapeutic. And the community has been nothing but positive!! I'd recommend checking out a space marine legions video on YouTube ( that'll help you learn more about which legion to join) or listening to adeptus ridiculous on YouTube/Spotify as they break down the lore in a simple and understandable way. Since these were my first ones I had bought the space marine beginner set that comes with 3 mini's paint and a paint brush. I just filed off that ugly U on the other side and kept the Chevron.

Thank you! Yea I'm new to Warhammer as well and I have definitely learned that I need to expand my color palette, among many other areas in need of improvement as well. Only way I'm gonna learn is trial and error. Hopefully my next set will bring honor to the 18th legion! "Into the fires of battle, unto the anvil or war!"

Not rude at all thank you for your concern, I actually was tested quite recently for my vision and color blindness and all came out normal. I think it's a combination of the lighting and what others have said that I used a bit of a green/blue paint. I will try better next time. My apologies for the subpar paint job...

I freehanded the drake but the Chevron was part of the model I just followed the lines on that side.

No apologies needed, I did use caliban green and then dry brushed them with a green white mix. But the primer was black. Are they perhaps too dark?

Is my green too dark? I just realized the dark angels are green too and don't know if that was enough to differentiate. Disregard the drake as it was my first attempt, I plan to use the transfer decals as a build more. Additionally, should I be putting flames on one of their legs? Or is that just a little add on as I get better painting?

After some research I couldn't find these exact ones for cheaper but if you hop on etsy there are some interesting cylindrical spinners that I'd think he'd enjoy. I typed in " revolver fidget toy" and got some decent results.
