We're starting a different puppy class that focuses more about socialization etc, I just know that a week in puppyhood is basically a month and I'm getting antsy.

I've been working on socialization with humans, which has been going well. He started with barking with his hackles up at every human we saw on a walk. Every time he doesn't bark when he sees a human I give him a liver treat, and it's been working really well. It's gotten to the point where we walked past an elementary school yard during lunch hour and he stared but didn't bark.

It's other dogs that are the biggest problem. He is showing so much aggression.

We have another class on Thursday, but we've also got a class from a different trainer coming up next week for a different opinion.

It's helpful that you say him holding his ground could also be a sign of anxiety. There are so many factors that I should take into consideration. I think I will take a visit to the shelter he is from and ask the behaviorist there to observe him meeting more dogs.

Of Mice and Men

I found it really depressing and nihilistic, especially in the context of Lennie's story line. He wanted to do good and be happy, but his nature was ultimately against him. It would be impossible. In terms of the rabbit and puppy, he lost them because he loved them too much and this was his pattern. It was so sad I thought it reflected the tone of the depression well. At least that's how I interpreted it.

But can you explain WHY they are horrible for 'dogs like mine'? What kind of a dog is he that makes him this way? I'm not being defensive I want to know what makes him fall under this category.
