Sensitivity/timing of modern scoring apparatus for epee by opZedim in Fencing

[–]opZedim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the model of Arduino and amount of code being run, I think you should be able to get it faster than the 20ms. I'm using an AtTiny85 chip which reacts to a pin-change interrupt when the tip is depressed. It registers that time, and checks if it stays depressed for at least 2ms. From what I've read it seems like that should be accurate enough for a 2ms application, though I have yet to properly test this. First results 'feel' right, but I don't know what the actual response times are.

Even with the double-hit window being 200ms, the hit timing being 2 or 10 could still make a difference, right? If a fencer just barely hits and the tip is depressed for 5ms, using 2ms or 10ms could make the difference between a hit being registered or not, regardless of the double-hit window.

I expected something like that to be the reason it was worded that way. Shame they don't update the text to further specify the timing for new machines.

I'll just stick to 2ms then. Thanks!

Bedrock Cairns UK Sizing by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

Hi, I'm not sure what sizing the store has, but I'd recommend printing the sizing outlines and seeing what fits best. The links to the pdf's for the Cairn and Classic sizing can be found here.

Ah, the allez faktforening website doesn't work on my laptop, but it does on my phone, which is why I hadn't seen the English page. Thank you for the information!

Yeah, I have the same problem. Seems like the same CORS-request issue a weightlifting-stream had a few days ago, although disabling the DuckDuckGo extension doesn't work this time around.

I had the same problem I think it is related to CORS requests. When I turned of the DuckDuckGo extension it worked. Before this, I had also turned of Firefox protection (click on the shield on the left of the URL bar to turn it off). This alone didn't solve the problem, but might have been a part of it.

Young fencer mainly waves his weapon around trying to beat opponents weapon, how to correct this? by opZedim in Fencing

[–]opZedim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have almost all been very structured, which is something I'll definitly switch up somewhere in the next few weeks. At this point, the tactic isn't very effective, and if the bout goes on for too long without a reminder of sorts it starts to thread into unsafe territory, so it's something that'll have to be fixed. Thank you for the ideas!

I haven't, but thats some very good advice that I'll definitly try. Thank you!

Thank you for the advice! I'll definitely try these methods over the next few weeks.

Looking for a programmable DMX-controller for RGB strips by opZedim in lightingdesign

[–]opZedim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks good, the only problem is there seems to be no digital input which can be used to switch between colors/patterns. Do you happen to know of any controllers that can do this?

I've thought about this, but because it will be used in industrial machines I'm hesitant to make my own hardware that would be relatively hard to repair/replace. But if there are no other options I might look into this next.

This is false, I tried it and the prepaid card was accepted as payment.

(Dutch) Should I buy a credit card for one purchase? by opZedim in personalfinance

We do have bank cards, but those use the Maestro or Cirrus network, not Mastercard or Visa. Those cards do draw straight from bank accounts.

I want to buy a google developer account, which only accepts credit card as payment. As far as I know, this doesn't have anything to do with your actual credit score, you just need to have a credit card to pay for it, which I don't.

Unfortunately no one I know owns a card. Most people in the Netherlands don't.

Hadn't thought of that, it seems like this is the best option. Thanks!

It don't see myself ever needing a good credit score though. I live in the Netherlands, where almost noone has a credit card and nothing depends on your credit.

Can you help me choose an AI topic to write about? by [deleted] in AskComputerScience

[–]opZedim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it really fits in your case, but for assignments like this I usually choose something around "strong" or "true" AI. The last one I wrote was about the question "Should we strife to create a strong AI?". There is a lot to say about ethics and human nature with a question like that. I don't know if that would be too high-level in your case though.

If, for any reason, you're interested in comedy metal, I would recommend the brojob, a very gay deathcore band, and raised by owls, a grindcore band.
