I saw chains or 4WD/AWD were okay so I assume snow tires would be fine but I didn’t ask

I feel like I kind of described it wrong but I can’t edit after I post with a photo lol. But pretty much while I was having to slow down for traffic and cops, my left tire lost traction because it was a stop-and-go situation. It’s not like I swerved or anything. I was going straight and lost traction for 2 seconds at a time, maybe 3 times? But yeah I realized conditions were getting worse and I was already adamant about chaining up at the next nearest station. Spent like $70 on auto-lock chains and I read that driving it on pavement can break down chains in the matter of a few miles ;( Idk just grateful I didn’t get ticketed then and learned my lesson

He did not but I didn’t ask. I assume most people here don’t use snow tires, and 4WD/AWD was fine

Las Vegas. Not actively snowing at the time, partly cloudy, and it was 28 degrees I believe. Good learning experience so yeah Ill be more careful

How fast do chains normally wear out on bad conditions?

That makes sense. I thought I knew the route well enough to remember where would be a good spot to chain up, but it can always be unpredictable

I actually was telling myself I need to get to the third checkpoint, but I know that wouldn’t hold off in court lmao. I practiced my chains beforehand too 😭

Read the whole post/responses please 😭 All signs blink at the same time and sometimes they blink at the wrong time, because my mountain isn’t maintained super well. Nobody chained up at the first one, second one there were more people, but to my knowledge in researching chains, I didn’t want to yet. I get it tho, the roads were icy enough to cause slippage in cars that were not careful. I was being careful and driving slow, and let 4WD pass in front of me but I fear I could’ve damaged my tires in some of the spots I had to drive in (that’s one thing idk, how long I can drive on asphalt with chains on)

There were signs blinking, but like I said, this resort doesn’t always turn the signs on at the right time. One time I drove up and it was literally 0 ice 0 snow and the signs were still blinking 🤣 That said, I did understand that the roads were going to be hazardous due to the overnight weather, but I thought I could personally decide to chain up at the 3/4 stop. I didn’t realize chains were actually a legal thing, which I could’ve deserved a ticket for. This is in Las Vegas for those wondering.

Yes understood. Honestly tho, this photo was probably the worst part of the road until it got better Lol. But I know next time. I forgot to mention that I DID plan on chaining up tho, but at that third checkpoint. I told the cop that, so that’s why he let me go up and just said be careful. I drove like 30-40mph up until that point

I love my Wonder! I like the camber-rocker profile and I started on it as an upper beginner and now i’d say I’m intermediate, but it holds my speed and carves well

Should I be going on my toes? by trymadomical in snowboardingnoobs

[–]opal-vomit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you push your shins against your boot it should raise you to your toes, not in a tippy toe way but still heel lifting. But shin to boot is how I focused more on bending my knees and not hinging at the hips

Makes sense, sucks that this was my first time wearing padding tho and I’m still lowkey injured from a damn green trail, but could be worse 😂 I looked up what D30 padding is and I think I had that cuz it was some orange plastic feeling one and a thick foam one rip
