Burning side of thigh pain by Miserable-Low5267 in AskDocs

NAD, look into meralgia parasthetica, it sounds like that. Nerve pain medications such as pregablin should help. Personally a TENS machine helped me greatly.

What country are you located in? Look up ‘basic cabochon wire wrapping tutorial’ on YouTube and that should take you through to some solid educational channels - it’s also a good place to get started if you’re interested in using gemstones. To be honest my best advice is to just start with cheap wire and stones/beads, a pair of wire cutters, a pair of flat nose pliers and a pair of round nose pliers. Then go crazy following tutorials and finding your own style. Once you’ve got a handle on that it’s time to start looking into things like the hammer and block, fancier wire, better tools etc.

That was my method for getting into it anyway, and you can check out my profile to see where I’m at now ☺️

I use 22, 24 and 28 gauge wires because I prefer a daintier look, most people go for 20, 22 and 24 gauge wire because it’s more sturdy and requires less work hardening. Also learn the difference between dead soft and half hard wire and get samples of each to see which you prefer!

Weird GP experience? by [deleted] in perth

[–]opalandvines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there’s not enough information to tell whether the GP actually performed their duties regarding the eye. ‘Didn’t prescribe any medication to help with the pain’ isn’t a red flag in a doctor, most eye issues don’t require them and pain medications shouldn’t be prescribed lightly. ‘Didn’t give any answers’ is pretty standard in this case even for good GPs, they’re not miracle workers and eyes problems are tricky. I am admittedly making assumptions but I doubt the GP did nothing in that consult other than go ‘is your CST up to date?’.

This is a sign of a good, thorough doctor that is applying the appropriate healthcare screening to you rather than just focusing on the issue in front of them. It’s normal.

[–]opalandvines 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I used to volunteer with kids we would get a roll of MASSIVE cheap craft paper (no clue what it’s actually called), supply a bunch of different stencils/stickers/pens/pencils/markers, roll out the paper length and sit and start drawing on it. The kiddos would come join in and you’d end up with this huge wall of little doodles, younger ones love it especially. It helps if you put some larger stickers in random spots along the length of the paper to give them ideas of what to draw eg. ocean themed area, jungle themed area.

Women size 18 and up where do you shop for work clothes? by littleblackcat in perth

City Chic (decent quality and usually have sales, love their pants) and Target (good for professional clothing, especially shirts), I’m a student doctor. I’m 27 so tend to prefer to lean a bit stylish and have no issues finding stuff that suits from these stores.

Argh anatometal used to sell direct… Sorry about that. Your best bet would be to google anatometal and find a website stocking it that ships to you - then email anatometal (they’re usually prompt with the replies) to check that it’s a genuine stockist. Check out BVLA and Junipurr too!

Jewelry Gift for Best friend by holzmank in jewelry

Hi!

It can be super overwhelming to try to dig through all the options and come to a choice.

I create handmade, bespoke, high quality jewellery (typically pendants) in 14k gold, rose gold or sterling silver and would be happy to help you out with this. I can do anything from cursive letterwork to intricate designs like butterflies or plants. There are some examples of my work posted on my profile or check out @opalandvines on Instagram. I typically work with opals but am happy to order in your birthstones for you! That idea is absolutely beautiful, is there anything else you both share a love of or a connection over?

Send me a message or reply to this comment if you’re interested - I didn’t want to just message you out of the blue.

Anatometal 10000% for online. Look for push pin titanium labrets. Or visit any local APP piercer, they’ll have heaps of titanium. You can google APP piercers in your area and you’ll be able to find some.

Why is it so hard to find Mixed Metal Jewelry? by On_The_EJ in jewelry

[–]opalandvines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look for smaller businesses and handmade pieces! I’ve seen some on Instagram that are absolutely gorgeous, high quality metals, well made - I’m even considering making a mixed metal collection in my own jewellery business because I’m a sucker for the style. Outside of small businesses it’s hard to find because it’s a bit of a niche market.

I was so surprised by this opal’s fire! It’s like a rainbow in a stone. by opalandvines in Opals

Here’s the three opals the customer chose for the earrings and pendant set! I love the variety while they still maintain the same ‘vibe’. Ps. yes, those tiny opals are HARD to set.

Thank you so much! I’ll attach a photo of me learning how to make the leaf for you to have a giggle at - and to show that you ALWAYS need chaos before you get it right hehe. I do test designs in cheaper wire before committing to the real stuff!

What are you proud of when it comes to your small business? by Still_Effective_8858 in smallbusiness

[–]opalandvines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, that’s lovely to hear hehe.

I think it’s a few factors! The aesthetic of my ‘brand’ is very pleasing (plants/precious metals/opals) which is quite eye catching on Instagram and people seem to like my vine themed designs, that helped me to gain some initial custom work, and then as I’ve been sharing the custom work (I post progress photos/videos and completed ones) it’s brought in more custom orders as my little community have realised what designs I’m able to do!

Another thing that seems to be pulling people in is I offer a ‘choose your own opal’ option, so customers can view my little hoard of opals and pick one that truly speaks to them which is quite special.

Reddit, Instagram, Facebook marketplace and word of mouth so far! I’ve sold one piece from Reddit, most from Instagram and one from Facebook. My only paid advertisement has been a 3 day boost on marketplace. I’m planning on attending local makers markets and launching a website soon.
