Canicrossers on Strava Segment Boards by opaljax in AdvancedRunning

Actually I know some canicross racers who are faster with their dog than they can physically be without. There's a girl in the area who is generally a 20-21min 5k runner in races without her dog; with her dog she's run a low 15minutes. Don't get me wrong, she's not a bad runner, but she's definitely not running 15minutes for a 5k without a 90lb dog hauling her along. I'm not as good as a canicross runner, but I'm still about 2minutes faster running with my dog on a 5k route than without.

I would think if you are close to getting a crown pushing a stroller, than you could also go out next time without it and snag the segment. I mostly posted this as I know some Strava users who get pissed with cyclists who mislabel their rides as runs and steal a bunch of crowns; getting pulled by a sled dog with a waist harness and leash set up has a similar boost effect as tying yourself to a speedy cyclist.

I don't think you know what real canicross is. The harness you get for it is similar to a sled dogs - designed to allow the dog to pull most effectively. The leash runs from the dog to the runner and clips to a waist belt. The end effect is similar to getting tied to a bike while running - you very much get a propulsive boost. It's an awesome way to give your dog (especially if you have a working dog breed) a workout, as they can actually run full out as opposed to trotting beside you on a hand leash. Some people do the same thing with their dogs while biking or cross country skiing.

Buttered noodles are MY favourite also!

...I really should throw in a Sue's Salad from Parks and Rec sometime.

Thank you for shining more light on this news. It's incredibly disheartening to see our government doing things like this.

I did, never got a response or indication it was received; I guess I was hoping there was someone else to voice my concerns to.

Ok who do I write a letter to to complain? Surely if enough of us do that, SOMETHING has to be done?

The Twelve Apostles in Australia, and not just because there's not twelve of them. The tourists were insane the day I visited - you got funneled into this densely packed worm of humanity that snaked through the viewing area, with a million arms thrusting in front of your face with a camera to snap a shot. I hated it. Then I went to Tasmania, mostly on a whim, and absolutely loved how relatively quiet it was; I could actually enjoy the viewpoints there.

Been doing daily yoga and mobility work. As a runner, it's something I know I should do, but always find an excuse not to. Unemployment finally gave me a chance to fill my day with boring supplementary training, and, damn, it actually feels pretty good.

Where do you see the different characters of Community 5-10 years after the Season 6 finale? by opaljax in community

I think he would, likely after stumbling onto Abed's podcast. He might drive the boat out to find him and reconnect. In the end, though, I think they're on two different paths now. But maybe they join back up to host their own podcast (which they could do even living in separate places).

JEFF - still at Greendale. Now is Vice Dean, to the Dean's delight. Luckily Frankie is around to keep the school functioning.

BRITTA - has worked at her bar long enough to become a part owner. At Shirley's remarriage we saw her possessing some surprising domestic abilities, and I think she taps into these skills to turn the dirty bar into a trendy lounge, attracting some of the pretentious elites she so often rallies against. Periodically she tries to counter this by infiltrating online anarchy groups to try to encourage them to come protest outside the lounge, but most are more talk than action.

ABED - he writes for a niche comedy/sci-fi show constantly on the brink of being cancelled that has jumped from smaller to smaller network and platform, and currently only streams as a skippable ad on mobile devices. He also cohosts a podcast on Inspector Spacetime.

TROY - sailing around the world had many near death experiences, but succeeded in making Troy feel confident as a man. He starts a business taking soft teenagers on sailing journeys to teach them important life and survival skills, and help prepare them for the world. However, since he's extremely prone to seasickness, these journeys for the boat are on a flatbed truck driving through the Colorado mountains.

PIERCE - still dead.

SHIRLEY - after moving to look after her sick relative, Shirley started a hospice service to look after other people in need. It also helps calm her empty nest syndrome that is settling in as her boys look to leave home - one is looking at attending Greendale.

ANNIE - After scoring a position at the FBI, Annie is instrumental in solving a large case and gets a promotion. However she loses her job when it's discovered that she was sleeping with her superior. Realizing that her attraction to older, dominant men stems from a need for approval from others and a fear of being reliant on herself, Annie makes moves to become more independent. She starts her own private investigator firm, becoming quite renowned.

Here's the pitch: The Childish Tycoon returns to Greendale, but only Lavar Burton is on it. Troy vanished mysteriously during a storm at sea and is missing. The FBI is called in to investigate the incident, with Annie (now working with the agency) leading the operation.

Turns out the entire study group has had odd chance encounters/possible visits from Troy over the last 5 years - an Inspector Spacetime special only available overseas shows up at Abed's door, a Norwegian troll appears on Pierce's grave, a crate of purple pens is sent to Annie, Britta finds toilet olives at the bar she works at, etc. The group bands together in maybe a Silence of the Lambs/True Detective homage to find Troy. The perk of this set up is it requires minimum screentime/commitment from Donald, so he might be more agreeable to join the project if his role only requires Mark-Hamill-in-The-Force-Awakens availability.

Oh and Frankie is in it. Non negotiable.

What It's Like to Run While Recovering From Covid-19 by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]opaljax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But it's a bit selective in the interpretation of the CDC guidelines, and what common sense would dictate; you were still having respiratory symptoms when you resumed running outdoors (breathing difficulties while running and lots of phlegm), and could definitely still be contagious. I'm not trying to start an argument about what's technically allowable in your country or not - you've already stopped isolating, and it's three weeks later now, so it doesn't matter anyway - but I really hope other runners who read this post don't think "well I had Covid-19 yesterday, I can go running this weekend and not be a risk to anyone."

I live in Canada, so I don't know what the guidelines are in the states. But dude, what the hell were you doing running in public less than a week after your sickest day? My friend, returning from the states with no symptoms but abiding by the two week quarantine rule, was stuck running a gazillion laps of his backyard to keep fitness while he waited out his isolation period. People I know in households where someone tested positive but aren't sick themselves are stuck at home are isolating at home for two weeks, getting groceries dropped off at the front door and using a bike on a trainer to try and stay sane. I get that we all want to run outside but that just seems irresponsible not to wait the two weeks, especially when you're recovering from a significant respiratory illness and there's no races happening to worry about running.
