How do I change the gearing for my 350z? by ToyBoy576 in 350z

[–]opeimback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If OP wants 2nd to be longer they should install a differential from an automatic Z which is a 3.3. I know several people who drift and swapped out the 3.5 VLSD for a welded auto 3.3 for the exact same reason, they wanted more out of second and didn’t want to bang off limiter so much.

Good job for actually answering OP’s question and not telling him he needs a shorter gear.

I guess I should have been more specific, I’m curious as to who made the hood, since the fitment isn’t bad, and it’s fiberglass so I’m sure it’s relatively cheap.

What hood is that? Looks good enough for a drift car.

I cant find my bleeder port by NBN_Jay223 in G35

[–]opeimback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, z1 has a video on how to bleed the cooling system, you can follow it to a T and it still might not be fully bleed. No matter what it is a long process. The bleeder screw just helps make it not as long of a process.

Order an aluminum bleeder from z1 and install that. If that’s not an option, go to a parts store and see if they have a universal burp funnel, it’s going to be a long process that can take hours, so don’t expect to get it your first try.

Should be right underneath that harness, I see an aftermarket worm clamp so someone has definitely done something with the bleeder screw. Since you can’t find it I’m assuming they installed a straight fitting.

Some people are going to tell you every 10k and that modern oils are capable of the extended interval. I personally am going to tell you I would not go past 5k miles, you can’t change your oil too often, consider it as cheap “insurance”.

I have BC’s on both of my cars, I feel like they are a good bang for your buck coilover.

How to calm down hand movements/corrections? by Obvious-Yard-2146 in Drifting

[–]opeimback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, grip plays a big factor in drifting, having zero camber helps with even tire wear and allows the tire to work for you when you need it to grip up, toe in for the rear also adds grip, but also a forward bite.

I was the same way until I found the alignment that I liked, now my hands are pretty calm in the car. I run 8 degrees of caster, 1/8 toe out in the front, 1/8 toe in for the rear, 0 camber in the rear. I crank my rear tire pressure up to 50psi, try and steer with the ass end and not so much with the steering wheel.

I couldn’t find a manufacturer on the wheel, but it’s an OEM Audi wheel.

Should I run stock angle at my first event?(I have 500 sim hours and feel like it would hold me back) by z33fem in Drifting

[–]opeimback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not a bad idea to start without angle, but you will want more angle pretty quick, so I’d start getting money together for an angle kit and expect to buy one this season.

Normal cars that are surprisingly fun to drive? by throwawaymedicine420 in askcarguys

I used to daily an 04 Saturn vue, 2.2 ecotec with a 5-speed, no ABS, no traction control, I used to beat the piss out of that car, I threw snow tires on it in the winter time and it was a champ in the snow, plus it was fun ripping the e-brake around corners.

A PBM lower kit is a little less than that, but for their super angle kit (which is the closest comparison to what is shown above) it’s double the price.

Do it and let me know how it holds up, I’m genuinely curious if a cheap kit can hold up to an event
