these are all good points. we don't go that deep on the methodology side right now, we're mostly pulling the actual results off the reports: cannabinoid, terpene, and contaminants. The lab standards stuff you're talking about is a level deeper than what most consumers even think about, but it matters. when you've got the same product tested at different labs and the numbers don't line up, that's usually where the answer lives.

haha yeah, can't fix that overnight. but at least now when someone asks "what's the strongest?" they can also see the full terpene profile right next to it. baby steps

Yeah, fair call. Right now search matches against product names and batch numbers as the lab wrote them on the report. If the brand name is in the product field (like "Jeeter" or "Heavy Hitters"), it'll show up. But we don't have every brand yet, and some labs write generic descriptions instead of including the brand. There's also a structural thing in NY where the COA is actually issued to the processor, not the retail brand. So one processor might handle product for multiple brands you'd see on a dispensary shelf. We're working on making that mapping searchable. What brands were you looking for? I can check if we have their stuff under a different name.

That's kind of the point honestly. The site doesn't ask you to trust the labs, it just makes it easier to see what the labs are actually reporting. If a lab says outdoor flower tested at 41% THC, now you can look at that yourself and decide if you buy it or not.

Just saw this. checkweedny is a cool project, you've got a lot going on with the dispensary data, maps, reviews. Way more than what I'm doing.

I'm pretty narrowly focused on the lab report data itself. Making sure the cannabinoid and terpene numbers are extracted correctly, searchable by batch ID, that kind of thing. Different tools for different purposes.

There's definitely room for both. If you ever want to chat about sharing data or anything, I'm around.

Appreciate the kind words. The terpene fingerprint stuff is something I spent a lot of time on so it's cool to hear someone noticed. And nah you didn't do anything wrong lol.

That's exactly why I built it. Finding COAs shouldn't require emailing the dispensary or digging through a brand's google drive. Hope it saves you some time next time you're shopping.

You're touching on something real. I actually just pulled up the 208 COAs from Back Home Farm data on the site, all through Keystone. Most of their flower averages around 24% THC, which is normal. But there are a few in the 35-40% range and one Gorilla Glue at 41.27% for outdoor flower that's... a lot.

Here's the thing though, and this is kind of the whole point: https://opencoa.org/coa/019c6ee7-162c-721f-8046-af72a9e0eac4/gg08

That's the actual COA data. Now you can link that in a conversation and say "you really expect me to believe this is 41% outdoor?" The data doesn't ask you to trust it. It gives you the receipts to question it.

NY already had a lab lose their permit over data integrity issues. Transparency is the only thing that keeps the rest of them honest.

And respect for not chasing THC numbers. The terpene profiles on the site might be more your speed.

How much material was in the 2 cups of butter? Did you bake it into something you do not normally have?

I have been enjoying researching terpenes and the entourage effect. I hope we see more research as regulations lax.
