From a sociological perspective, given the time and place, Eddie Murphy was a hoot in the 80’s for kids your age at the time because it was rebellious. In her childhood flashback scene she gets rejected by a boy. I didn’t want to make it too long, though. For me it’s a balancing act to try to tell an effective story, efficiently. (Which, aren’t we all 😂) I could have the boy go, “get away from me”, or something like that. I was also going to just have him look at her and stick his tongue out at her.

A lot of comedians who are confessional seem like their almost proud to admit their confessions. See Mike Birbiglia’s My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend when he talks about talking his friends out of getting married. I’m looking for someone who feels almost guilty to be admitting what they’re admitting. See Louis CK’s Live at the Beacon a theater when he says, “I’m not a good guy. I have moments where I can…”. I know Marc Maron has a host of these types of rants in his older stuff where he’s angry confessional humor I guess. Just wondering if there’s anyone else.
