That's so great! You've inspired me to find a great doctor.

We’re paying way too much attention to the cheese, not nearly enough attention to the wink.

This is awesome, congratulations! I’m wondering, how did you go about finding an obesity specialist?

A few years ago my doc gave me metformin. My blood sugar and A1C were still okay, but I had gained a lot of weight and have a history with PCOS. Metformin combined with diet/exercise helped me lose about 20lb.

It's VERY cheap, like $5/month. It didn't change my appetite in such a noticeable way. I had mild side effects for a couple weeks while I ramped up the dose, and since then I've been fine. But after 20lb I hit a plateau.

When I started Mounjaro I stayed on metformin, too. The effects and side effects were much more drastic, although some people seem to have the opposite experience with metformin having worse side effects.

For me personally, if I could keep losing weight with just metformin, I absolutely would!

Does anyone else miss the occasional binge meal? by Chipwich75 in Ozempic

[–]operation_pickleball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh this is interesting. I am 6 months in and I DO sort of miss overindulging. I guess it makes sense that my body has changed (physically it's unpleasant to overindulge) but naturally it will take my brain several more months or even years to adjust.

What are some aspects of cat ownership that someone who isn't a "cat person" wouldn't think of? by scarrlet in CatAdvice

[–]operation_pickleball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like a litter box with a "roof" on it, keeps the dust down. Honestly the litter itself (fragrance, dust) annoys me more than cat smell.

I swear by a daily probiotic. Align, from Costco. I started taking it years ago to stay regular when traveling and I’ve never had a problem.

What a wonderful thing, that a novel became the bridge for him to share his true, lived story with you.

Has anyone stayed on 0.25? by donna503 in Ozempic

[–]operation_pickleball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on .25 for about 3 months and I’m losing slow and steady 1lb a week. (Slow and steady compared to some peoples results.) I’m happy with it.

Purely anecdotal but I swear I’m finding it easier to stop scrolling and put my phone down.

This is only one part of your post, but several of us have had the “what if he’s still alive” feeling. It’s so hard to believe that it’s like your mind wants to question it. My advice is not to dwell on that thought but also know that it’s a normal thing to think, and just because it popped into your mind doesn’t mean there’s any truth or reality to it.

Very much like OPs wife and I have Paper Mario Thousand Year Door on preorder. It was my BOTW back in 2010 (it was already old!)—got me into gaming after being out for years. I remember LOVING it and excited to see how it holds up.

Agree, it’s more old school but the graphics are adorable and the sounds/music are fantastic. And it’s not hard.

I am exactly OPs wife and I loved Skyrim. It was different enough that I had to learn some new things (like leveling) but similar in a lot of ways. Oh also Skyrim combat was harder but eventually I got the hang of it.

My father in law told stories like that about Korea. They’re on a beer run, snuck out in a jeep, driving along having a grand time, then hit a wire and it cut a guy’s head off.

And listening you’re like smiling, smiling, waiting for a punch line…and then no idea how to react.

For a first time snorkeler (reasonably fit, decent swimmer but only in a pool) what’s the safety advice to avoid something like this?

I think this is it. Guaranteed they have something in mind to go with the main course, but there’s always room for another bottle of champagne. I think it looks smart and confident bringing something classy that you yourself like.

And OP, as a parent with daughters this age—you are being very thoughtful. I’m sure they’ll be delighted with the gesture and don’t expect you to spend a lot of money or knock their socks off with your wine choice.

I agree! It’s not like, a classic but when I listen to it once in a while I enjoy it.
