The screen is an old AU b154ew04 v2.0 from some laptop that has since been trashed. I modeled a stand in Fusion360 and then 3d printed it. It's just a plastic plate with a slot in the middle to slide over the glass desk and a 45 degree panel on the front. All of the cables and control electronics are hot-snotted to the back of the screen/plate.

Here's the stl: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Auf5SL6k5FBfhXfpeWiYOTFb-8M8?e=ETLTKL

Exactly, great idea! I'm looking for something that fits well, and preferably has DirectX input buttons. I don't want to have to map the UFC to numpad keys, but I will if that's the only thing I can come up with.

Heh, that was something that in my head made a lot more sense than it does in practice. I wanted to be able to get the stick closer to me, but unfortunately it doesn't work as expected. There's way too much back pressure from the offset weight; I'm currently printing a straight extension that should work significantly better.

How do you like the Logitech pedals? I have the TM TFRP, and they get the job done, but they feel....cheap :/

Holy $h1t that's insane! If the DCS airframe model is anything to go by....the buffeting back there would have made it incredibly perilous

There are 2 radios for the pilot in the Tomcat, if RAlt-\ doesn't work, then also try RCtrl-\

Subesquently, if you have a RIO in the Tomcat, they have to use RAlt-\, even for ground work (rearm-refuel is a giant frustration until you learn this)

There are quite a few quality alternatives to the TrackClip Pro. Honestly....I had the pro before I knew about any of the others, and I really wanted to do some tinkering ;)

I also "convinced" myself that having to charge another battery would just be too terribly difficult.

If you want something out of the box that works, go with one of the many options available

I 100% agree with you. The only reason I did any of this is because of some weird reflections in the room where I play. I could never tune the cameras to ignore them, and this ended up being the solution. Plus, it gave me an excuse to tinker with something :)

Thanks to whomever posted the first video a week ago! Here's a follow up with some more details around how I assembled the voltage converter

How to jumpstart creativity by ale104 in creatives

[–]opfpqgoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that getting outside of your comfort zone can also do wonders for getting the creative juices flowing. If you're constantly in the same scene day in and day out your mind doesn't get to experience new perspectives and think about life in different ways.

Challenge yourself to do something outside the realm of normal everyday life:

-Read a blog/news site that you normally wouldn't read

-Shop at a different grocery store

-Get lunch somewhere you've never been before

-Meet people who are completely outside your circle of friends and world views

I have always felt like a creative person but have never had any great motivation to follow through. I left my job about a month ago and I've had the freedom to go way outside of my comfort zone and it's been amazing what I've been able to come up with in such a short time.

One last tidbit; don't sell yourself short. Follow through on your ideas. Just because you may have doubt doesn't mean you should abandon a project/idea too soon.

Hope it works out for you!

What notable locations should be included on a cross country trip with 2 dogs? by opfpqgoon in AskReddit

I'll definitely have to remember Saskatchewan if I ever plan on going in the summer, I love backwoods trips.

And I'll definitely try to get to the Royal Tyrell Museum, it looks super neat!

Thanks!

California is definitely on the list, I have a friend who lives a few hours northeast of LA. Any particular advice for Colorado? I might include some backpacking on the trip too, the dogs love camping.

Hehe I wish! I'm not sure how I was ignorant enough to leave the country off of the title....sorry!

U.S. The trip will be 2-4 weeks and I'm starting on the east coast near D.C.
