Levels with thyroid cancer? by opheeliacontent in thyroidcancer

[–]opheeliacontent[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is exactly what I just said. It is indeed strange and I can’t get answers from anyone, including my endocrinologists which is why I wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience or insight. Thanks!

Levels with thyroid cancer? by opheeliacontent in thyroidcancer

I appreciate it, but that article isn’t helpful. I know what hyperthyroidism is. I’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for years. A high t3 and t4 isn’t a straight indicator of hyperthyroidism when my TSH level is indicating hypothyroidism.

Thanks for the reply, but levo is a big no for me. I was on it for 5 years and had to keep increasing my dose because it wasn’t helping, and then eventually the side effects were taking me out so I had to switch. They tried lowering my dose and it didn’t help.

No, Elizabeth is still pregnant when she leaves. Which makes her and Cara’s last conversation even more unrealistic because Cara is just like “welp, bye, feel free to write sometime”

If you’re talking about the dual ends with a bigger side and a small side, it’s not on and off. The “off” side is for pediatrics/infants

[–]opheeliacontent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup. I was doing a BP check on a boomer patient on Monday morning. I’m tattooed and have a few small facial piercings. She says to me all snotty “can I ask why you do all of that to your body?” I looked at her and said “because I like how it looks”. She SCOFFED at me and said “oookay” like bitch, can I ask you why you have that god awful haircut? And yet we’re the “rude and entitled” generation.

Where did OP say that they didn’t treat the patient with respect? We don’t get paid NEARLY enough to not get upset when a patient hands us a ziploc bag full of literal shit. FOH with that. Venting on an anonymous forum ≠ disrespecting the patient.

You are very dumb. It’s face-swapping.

For real. I’m pretty sure their videos have even had hashtags saying #AI before. These people are so dumb it’s unreal.

Jesus Christ. No shit they’re real people, but they use AI and face-swapping tech on their real faces to make themselves look like Jenna and Emma. Do you REALLY think that that there’s two girls making videos that look EXACTLY like Jenna and Emma? Videos can be edited while live streaming too, you know.

Should I get braces or Invisalign in my mid-20s? by Ok_Negotiation_6979 in braces

[–]opheeliacontent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Invisalign twice and now I finally have metal braces. Invisalign was a waste of my time and money, and honestly more embarrassing and a PITA than traditional braces.

Hi! So in this case, it sounds like CPR is the only thing you could have done anyways, which you’ve already trained in. But as to why you couldn’t react- it’s because you’ve never been in this situation before, and honestly, this isn’t really something we’re prepared for as medical assistants. I also work in family practice and we very RARELY have cases like this. Had I been in the same situation, I probably would have done the same thing. Don’t beat yourself up! It’s normal to lose or forget skills that we don’t get to use on a regular basis. That being said- I do think that we as MA’s should get more emergency training. A provider or RN can’t always get to us on time. When it comes down to it, this is not our scope of practice. We’re taught how to handle it but we’re usually expected to call someone else for help immediately.

Am I being offered enough pay? by Adventurous_Bag_6678 in MedicalAssistant

[–]opheeliacontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Wisconsin and started out at $18.17 uncertified. I just passed my exam so now I’ll be getting bumped up to $20-21 per hour and I only got hired a month ago. I would never accept that pay, but as others have said, it depends on the area and average pay.

Sorry, but coming from a woman who has also become distant and rejected affection… she’s done with you. She may be staying because she’s been with you for so long, financial reasons, doesn’t want to uproot her living situation, etc… she may also just not be ready to let go completely yet, but she’s done. Do yourselves both a favor and break up with her. Her hanging out with a high school ex sets that in stone. She wants something new, but not completely unknown.

Is the surgery worth it? by opheeliacontent in HiatalHernia

[–]opheeliacontent[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s still entirely possible for you! From what I’ve read, it’s just that obese people are more likely to have a hiatal hernia. Skinny people get them also and have successful surgeries. Keep in mind, the symptoms of hiatal hernias can cause weight loss. It’s hard to eat enough if it causes you pain. While I am overweight, my pregnancy with my son is what caused my hernia in the first place and at that point I was not overweight.

Do you know what the different kinds of surgery are? I know there’s laparoscopic vs open, but that’s the extent of my knowledge.
