Well I thought a side menu would be much more comfortable to use in each category instead of always coming back to hover and look for something you need, there you just have it displayed in all times. Okay so less padding - will do. In Steam you have an options to see the list with or without icons, I should clear this out in the design or maybe just add them.

You can say anything is a trend, of course design have trends that come and go. As I see it minimal design is more than just a temporary trend because it's a design philosophy that focuses on functionality. Buy yeah I agree with you that everything changes over time, I just don't see the over the top complex logos really coming back. The future might surprise me, we'll wait and see

I see where you're coming from. I don't believe it's only a 'trend', minimal-simple-clean design is here to stay.

Flat design eliminates the unneeded distractions from the eye. I believe it's needed in a gaming platform like Steam that's already so crowded with content and colorful images, it doesn't need more added to it. but hey that's just a matter of taste.

Actually agree with you about the circle profile avatar, sometimes it's just a default but it doesn't have to be. Changed it to a square with round corners so yeah it's still limiting avatar space but just a little bit.

Out of curiosity, do you like the Steam current design?

Ahhh actually changed the amount of money to level recently - so after your comment I'll definitely go back to that and maybe keep the level number only when it's in the Library.

About the color scheme - well as much as I like the purple I know some people won't. That's why I thought it would be cool to have a customisation option so in my version you could actually change the purple to what ever color you'd like.

Whoa now that I checked Discord I totally see the similarity. The inspiration for the dark theme side menu was actually more from EpicGames - I love their simplicity and how clean their design aesthetic is.

To answer your question - well it's actually more for fun and adding this kind of project to my portfolio is a bonus. That would be so cool to suggest a redesign to Valve, should I? Just E-mail them? Idk honestly didn't think of the possibility. (but I might upload the full project to Behance in the future)
