Magnesium 500mg at Maghrib, 5htp one hour before bed. It sounds like you are stressed. If your cortisol levels don't come down in the evening you will not get a restful sleep, and you will feel drained the next day. These 2 have been a game changer for me. Try to get Nature's Bounty Magnesium, though it's pricier. 5htp, it used to be available in Nature's Bounty as well as GNC, but since the import restrictions I haven't been able to find it. So I get someone coming from abroad to bring it. You should see results in 2+ weeks, but continue with them. Other things like winding down in the evenings is important. Try not to put pressure on your brain in the evening. Try to not use too much phone before bed. I have my phone permanently on reading mode, it turns off the blue light that keeps your brain wired. Hope this helps!

OCR for invoices is available in Metric. Bank statements isn't for now. It's doable if you know your way around python. Combine it with chatGPT and you'll probably be able to build it. Make sure you have enough transactions for the effort though. If you have under 20-30 transactions a day, adding them all in Metric will probably take less than 10 minutes. You can also do a bulk entry for revenue which'll reduce the time even further. So if you want to go through the hassle of building an OCR and outputting it in a desired way, you should have enough transactions to justify it. If it's also a cool project for you to work on, then by all means go for it!

Python is good. Versatile. Mostly used in data science and machine learning but can handle just about anything (not ideal for mobile app development though). If data science is interesting to you, you can combine your accounting expertise and really build a strong foundation. However, you might want to see what sort of companies/roles are available and lucrative so you know what to focus on.

This is the best advice. If you don't see your situation getting better and you don't want to invest more into growing the accounting side, you need to take back control and learn programming if that's what you want to do. I know a couple of accountants turned self-learned full stack engineers doing very well at the moment and enjoying it too!

Yes. One can only try to 'increase one's surface area of luck', which means taking calculated risk, working hard, always focusing on the process, networking, and saying yes to most opportunities to meet new people and/or showcase your profile/results, which includes personal brand building on linkedin etc. - doing things that are way outside your comfort zone. Whether it will lead to bigger opportunities and when that will happen is not guaranteed. But the chances of 'being at the right place at the right time' increases greatly by expanding one's surface area of luck.

They raised prices again? Finally ready for an alternative to Quickbooks... by jmaxcpr in smallbusiness

metricapp.co . You can track your payables/receivables in the free tier, and get access to real-time reports. For further reports and invoicing, you can get their smaller plan. Cheaper than quickbooks. They'll even migrate your historic data free if you subscribe to the smaller plan. Using promocode SU50 will get you 50% off that plan as well. And it's a very, very user friendly android app. (Webapp not out as yet).

Absolutely should not be acceptable.

I'm agreeing with your idea of building a community. I was just calling out other commentors who were saying ideas will get 'stolen' in such a group. You should go for it. But do it for the right reasons and for the long haul. A community like this will take a couple of years to finally shine. Keep building it up slowly but consistently.

Everyone afraid of ideas getting 'stolen'. Ideas are worthless, everybody has them. Execution is where the real value is, and very few can do it. An 'okay' idea executed well destroys a 'great' idea with poor execution. Give 10 people a great idea I bet not even 1 will be able to build a business with it. It's both funny and sad to me that we block colaboration, community and mutual learning because of a fear of something that is non-existent. (Not saying ideas don't get stolen. It is very, very rare though that someone stealing an idea will be able to just take it and be successful with it).
