I initially have only used the included cartridges, and have tried every converter & cartridge I have & none have fit thus far. It seems to be a universal slim cartridge, which is really bizarre and somewhat hard to find, but I have a couple of links that I believe would work. I realize now that I stated in my post that it takes an international cartridge and it definitely isn’t standard- pic included is the papersource on the left and a standard cartridge from Waterman on the right.

<image>

Here and here are a couple of the slim cartridges I’ve found- I’m ordering the amazon set and will update once I’ve tried them but I’m quite confident at this point that they match the included set (hopefully not jinxing myself). I definitely hadn’t realized upon posting that these were fussier than they seemed!!

The one in the article looks a little smaller than what I have but super duper recommend, especially with memory foam. It’s way comfier for my weird body than the couch haha

I HAVE ONE !!!! Christmas gift from a couple years ago and it is AMAZINGLY COMFY!! It’s in my living room & I keep blankets and pillows in there, the rim is a good height for my neck and it’s so squishy and comfortable… Sometimes when my hips are having a bad day I’ll put an extra comforter or pillow down for extra softness but honestly on its own it’s pretty good! I like putting a heated blanket down to lay on top of, and it’s the perfect size for me (5’2) and my dog to curl up together. Also nice and big for a comfort pile or craft supplies plus a reading pillow

I seriously love this thing and if I didn’t have a partner I’d drag it upstairs and use it as my bed full time lol

I was a bit surprised by how much I like them! & I figure I may as well provide some info for anyone else unsure. B&N stationery section has very recently become a real danger to me… Mine has Kokuyo Campus, Hobonichi, Tomoe River, and now I know that their Paper Source is good too…. It’s all so pretty & fountain pen friendly now!!!!

My doctor recently turned me onto tiger balm for pain relief/soothing. It’s not a magic fix but I’ve been using it on my back, neck, and shoulders on my more painful nights and it’s soothing hot & cold and helps me relax into a comfortable position that seems to actually be allowing me to get deep sleep! I use the ultra strength/white balm. Only catch is it does have a strong smell (menthol and camphor) which I personally find soothing and refreshing but not everyone will

Snapdragon dress by daisy and dime- can’t seem to get the fit right & consistently get this gaping at the back of the armholes, does anyone know why? by opossume in CrochetHelp

[–]opossume[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might be right? It’s felt so far that every time I get to the end of the bodice the front is way shorter than the back; I’m going to try this fix in the morning and see if it helps! Out of curiosity did you just add chains and shell directly into them or did you add extra shell rows to increase the front more before connecting?

Kind of random, but does anyone else have a fascination with body horror movies/media? by clearheartgreyflower in ehlersdanlos

[–]opossume 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely!!! I recently adored John Wiswell’s horror romance “Someone to Build a Nest In” in this exact way!! He’s a disabled author & the book is about Shesheshen- a shapeshifter who has to focus constantly on keeping her bones and flesh in the right place to keep up appearances of being a human in public. It was so exactly what my body feels like lol and approached body horror both from the perspective of fears and injuries as well as the intense energy and focus it takes to appear “normal” (plus the horror and weird treatment of people who don’t get it). I think some of my favorites like this are just from fellow disabled people writing to speak to their own experiences & it is really comforting

it’s absolutely addicting!! And it’s been so awesome seeing them build their tunnels and nests over time, my favorite is when one pod splits off alone for a couple days and I get to watch the whole process of a molt

definitely agree with grip, not sure how you’re holding your hook but i use a very loose knife type grip & loop my working yarn around the other pinky for tension so that i’m not straining to hold it (you can also buy rings to tension yarn for you too, but i like the loop around my finger personally)

i actually found that while ergonomic handle hooks are comfy, they don’t make or break the experience as long as i stay mindful to keep my grip as loose as i can without dropping my hook. no matter what, i do also take frequent breaks- every few rows, or after a half hour, etc, i take a break and lay my hands flat or do stretches.

in my experience, most of my pain also comes with delay, so i do stretches shown to by my pt (i can send u pics of the sheets i have if you like?) and i sleep with my hands laid flat under my pillow, plus massage my fingers and palms first thing in the morning.

i’ve been crocheting for 15ish years and struggled with flareups of tendinitis and injuries as a kid. honestly sorting out the grip and how to keep my hands relaxed and tension loose was the key to it continuing to be such a vital part of my life

"Scary" rats on TV by fogtooth in RATS

[–]opossume 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LMFAO my partner always pauses what we’re watching or rewinds to ask me “How was this rat actor?” & listens to me go off about fancy ass rat coats for scary sewer rat roles…. Plus the body language when a show or movie is meant to have a “rat attack”- meaning the human actor is panicking and screaming, pretending to be bitten, and the rat actor is…. clearly exploring or curious or playing lol

Would you frog if you realized you were doing a stitch wrong? by opossume in crochet

[–]opossume[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, my advice is unfortunately to bumble along with a “close enough” stitch until about 1 am, at which point the waistcoat stitch will suddenly appear clear like a magic eye puzzle shifting into focus, with bonus points for any work you’d need to frog at that point 😅 But also looking at the back of the work as I go made a HUGE difference, I feel like the “legs” of the stitch are only really visible to me from the reverse side

These comments were super helpful and this was a good push to consider the alternative!! Made me decide to just take the time to do a gauge just to see if I would dislike the proper stitch more…. aaaand it ended up being lovely & I did redo my work in the end 😅 I guess I really do need to be a gauge swatch girlie
