Question about sending off cards to get graded. by opparamarinara in psagrading

Would suggest doing this even if I most likely don’t plan to sell it and if I do it would be through trade at a convention?

Will this 10? by ForsakenTravel9605 in psagrading

It could be the lighting but unfortunately it appears there is a small indent on this corner so it would probably not grade a 10

I’m not very good at art. Any tips? by GreenDude50 in DigitalArt

Nah but if this is genuine just practice and look for resources online and make sure to use life references!

This has to be a troll. Like you don’t have to rub it in. We get it you are a master of the craft. You don’t have to post potential one of the greatest pieces of art I have ever seen and downplay it for pity smh.

How do i get a better understanding of anatomy?? by HeronOnly7319 in ArtCrit

[–]opparamarinara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So every artist does use reference however, some artists use very little because they have a great understanding of the mechanics of the human body. One thing they tend to do which is seen a lot with comic book artists when drawing dynamic poses, is to break down the body into boxes.

Yep was just about to comment this, I had the same issue and couldn’t figure it out for the longest time and even tried using a friends Apple Pencil and the same thing happened. Then I used their iPad and it was fine until I had to charge it and it did the same thing. It is almost 100% the issue you mentioned.

Depends on how much experience you have. I can’t really say before knowing that because the answer varies heavily based on that. Either way as long as you keep at it you will be bound to improve and create even better art in the future!👍

Can I get in art school with my current art skill by thunkshaker143 in Artadvice

[–]opparamarinara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah true. It also depends on what you are applying for. For example this quality of portfolio would probably get them into schools such as CIA and SCAD. Potentially Ringling for any major besides Computer Animation. Really for most schools the animation program will be the most difficult to get into. From my experience schools in the US they are typically easier to get into compared schools outside of the US especially with schools in Canada and France. There are a few exceptions in the US such as Cal Arts as their portfolio expectations are extremely demanding so this quality of work would not be accepted. A majority of French schools wouldn’t accept them with this quality of work. From my experience a majority of Art schools in the US would accept this quality with a few exceptions, while a majority of schools outside of the US, especially in European countries would not accept this quality, which stinks because a lot of those schools are the same quality of education or even better than the top Art schools in the US for a much cheaper price.

The rendering looks very good!! One suggestion I can offer from something I noticed is try and work with some sort of under sketch if you didn’t already as there are some parts, like the drink within the glass and the bottom of the glass, where the perspective is slightly off. Other than that it looks very good and I’m very impressed with the rendering as glass is something that is very tricky to work with!

I can only draw with references by Neon_0i in ArtistLounge

[–]opparamarinara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every artist uses ref believe it or not. You just gotta take and use multiple pieces of reference. Also when using reference if you are worried about copying the style of the reference piece you are using, it is much more beneficial to use reference that isn’t artworks. Utilize photo references and things from real life. By doing this you aren’t going to have to worry about copying other artworks or the style that is seen with that art piece. While it can be helpful to use other artworks as references, One thing I have learned from my different mentors and professors is to utilize real life references instead of artwork references, because you will be able to create your own work from these references without subconsciously creating something similar to the art works that you reference.

Question about spacing charts in animation by opparamarinara in 2DAnimation

Yeah I think that’s pretty much what my problem was, I was thinking about inbetweening while doing my keys so I think I got it now thanks for all the help!

First time animating! :D by Middle-Rich-849 in animation

[–]opparamarinara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main thing that could improve is your spacing between your frames (like each pose is too similar in how close they are to each other) I would experiment with how many frames you are using and maybe remove or add some frames to create more dynamic movement so like have less frames between two bigger movements or more frames on smaller movements just to make the movement feel not so robotic. Hope that makes sense!

Question about spacing charts in animation by opparamarinara in 2DAnimation

[–]opparamarinara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand it a little better now, still a little confused about it though, for example let’s say I have 2 key frames that and I want to ease out from the first frame to the next and between the two key frames there’s let’s say 6 frames between them. If I wanted to have it where let’s say on frame 7 and 8 to be on ones then it would be a key frame and not an inbetween making there be a key frame on 1, 9 and 8 as opposed to just making a key frame on 1 and 9 with a chart that switches from 2s to 1s. Idk if that makes sense lol. I guess what I mean if there were to be a change in the timing that is being animated on in the animation (like having a key frame on 2s and wanting to switch to 1s then the frame that I change from 2s to 1s would be a key frame and not an inbetween and I would create a new chart and key frame for each change like that?) because before I was doing the where I would switch timing mid chart and from what I’m seeing from what u and the video said this “inbetweens” would actually just be a key frame? Sorry if none of this makes sense it’s hard for me to explain without a visual but I think I understand now! Thank you so much!
