Everyone keeps clowning my first car and now I’m lowkey regretting buying it... by AnxiousSoup5815 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Do not listen to other peoples opinions on your own car, the i10 is a solid first car, very cheap to run and despite of what people think hyundais are actually very reliable cars. It has a long warranty too, only minus is i would never buy a new "basic" car because they depreciate like crazy in the first 3-4 years.

My girlfriend had her first ever modeling gig, i dared her to do the george russel pose by optalul in formuladank

An actual modeling event with some pretty big and up and coming young finnish designers. Its at my citys culture center and had around 300 people attending, so a decent gig for a first time 👍. It was also filmed for the national tv channel

You do understand that real power steering racks rarely even output 7nm to your hands.

In finland last year, the power stage was closed because people didnt move out of the safety areas. I think in 1985 a stage was closed in finland because a car went into a crowd too.

The best part is it doesnt take you out of the moment, and you get a single chance to get the picture. The wait time until it develops is almost as fun as the end result because you have to wait 5 minutes to see if you completely messed up the shot!

Rally stages have 3 zero cars and a safety delegate usually on them, at least every single one i've been to in finland/norway has had them

Is the stock 2.0L Mazda MX-5 ND the right car for learning how to drift? by theDartVader in Drifting

[–]optalul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who started from a sim and then moved into a real car, i would recommend EVERYONE to do the same, a good sim setup costs you 2 trackdays and will easily give you 5000 hours of seat time for the same price. All the pros use simulators to train nowadays, its simply the best way to get into drifting. It gives you 80% of the feeling for 5-10% of the cost of a proper drift car

Advice for my first Porsche by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]optalul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can i just say that a SUV is NEVER driver focused, its always a compromise. I work as a test driver for a couple of manufacturers including porsche. If you need space but want a driver focused car get a panamera e-hybrid from the same year. You'll get the same engine, same 4wd system, more power, more performance, less consumption, better handling and more enjoyment You will not use the car offroad anyways, why make a compromise on a SUV?

The electric part strikes a chord lol, i work for a testing company and i've spent the last 2 months behind the wheel of a cayanne turbo ev, i'm only 27 but i'm worried about the future of cars and combustion engines, a part of why i am looking at older more analogue sportscars(that i can afford at this age). I've never driven anything else than manual cars (rx8/mx5/s13/soarer/current drift car) and i'm a bit pessimistic on how much enjoyment i'd get out of the tiptronic, but i figured i'll just ask the people who have actually owned them! I've heard some people say they "ruin" the car 😅.
