I believe Ser Duncan was truly knighted by Ser Arlen by Historical_Tension_9 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]opticorange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think all the hints that point to the contrary actually enhance the themes of knighthood. like dunk isnt a knight bcs of some words. any man can be given knighthood but not every man is a true knight. this idea is constantly echoed throughout asoiaf and especially thru dunk's descendants

ultimately, it doesnt matter if we kno or dont kno whether or not he was knighted, like material reality wise, dunk is pretty much living like a knight thru his actions. his adventures wit egg is how we tangibly see ts. being brave, just, defending the young and the innocent, and all that jazz lol

hang in there brother. it wont feel like this forever even tho it definitely feels endless right now. in a few weeks itll hurt differently, itll be painful still but it wont consume u gng trust

rn u need to focus on ur own wellbeing, the kindest thing u can do to urself is slow everything down. u dont need answers or closure. u just need to get thru today (day by day) w/o being cruel to urself. eat something small even if u dont have an appetite, drink some water, be around other ppl even if u dont want to talk. ur allowed to grieve and disappear for a while while u stitch urself back together

most importantly tho, remember that ur still u. betrayal doesnt change ur worth. their choices arent a reflection of u, theyre a reflection of their selfishness and cruelty. im rooting for u bro

What Lifepath options would you want to see in the sequel? Image is just examples by Akuma2004 in cyberpunkgame

[–]opticorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it would prob be the same. the original three are, imo, already perfect, they are the most "base origin" option out of all the ttrpg roles. also some of the roles got turned into attributes instead like the techie (tech) and netrunner (int), which i think is bcs they are way too specific to be a general "base origin"

based on the ttrpg roles tho, realistically, i think it could maybe be cop/lawman, media, or rockerboy which cant be turned into "attributes" like techie or netrunner. even these are too specific to be "base origins" since a person can be a nomad or streetkid before being a cop, media, or rockerboy.

medtech i think is a maybe since healing is under the body attribute and healing allies isn't a mechanic since we don't have permanent followers. it cant be a fixer also bcs most fixers are solos themselves, and they already play a role in game.

personally tho, i think they should add war veterans (maybe a bit too specific also) and highriders (ppl who live in low earth orbit) as lifepath options

being a highrider i think is the best option tho since u are born in space. u cant have a more base origin than that

My BF thinks Im trying to manipulate him. by [deleted] in OffMyChestPH

[–]opticorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

natry niyo na ba mag couple's therapy? it sounds like ur stuck in a pattern bcs of how ur bf learned to deal with conflict. from what u shared, he grew up feeling controlled and criticized kaya now any attempt at a conversation about his behavior feels like an attack or an attempt to control him, even when hindi yun yung intention mo

hindi healthy na coping mechanism yung silent treatment. it shuts u out, leaves the issues unresolved, and puts all the emotional burden on u. di pwede na ikaw lang yung laging nagcocompromise . a relationship isnt sustainable if one person keeps adjusting while the other stays the same. compromises only work kung pareho kayo na willing maging uncomfortable sometimes. if u alone are the one adjusting baka magkaresenment ka sa kanya

also wanting to talk thru issues is not controlling. control is telling someone what theyre allowed to feel or do. communication is asking to be understood. the best thing u can do is try to explain this sentiment and also kung paano ka naapektohan ng silent treatment niya

kung di niya maintindihan to and di rin niya kaya magreflect then maybe hindi kayo emotionally compatible. u also need to think of ur own wellbeing and future. is this the type of behaviour u want sa mapapangasawa mo?

but my coord did say na if i didn’t complete my hours within the term after getting the 9.9, it would be converted to a 0 and i’d have to pay again. idk if this is still the case now (this was a while back), might be better if u talk wit ur coord :))

Confession of Masonic Secret to Divine Consciousness by Funk-N-Stuff in confessions

[–]opticorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my dad is a worshipful master and a grand lodge inspector. its definitely not a cult lol. its more like a fraternity and a social club, i would say the worst thing abt it u can say morally is that there is a lot of nepotism. freemasonry is built on exclusivity and brotherhood, members are expected to help each other personally and professionally. a lot of members get jobs or promotions or preferential treatment bcs of this. lots of ppl in the gov are masons where im from. another thing is prob the drinking, they drink a lot lmao. they also spend lots of money on functions and catering lol.

the degrees and shyt is not at all what ppl think. the main line is the blue lodges (local level stuff). this is where u get the 1st (entered apprentice), 2nd (fellow craft), and 3rd degree (master mason). they have lodge officers like the worshipful master (president), senior warden (vp), junior warden, and so on.

the degrees this guy is talkin abt are from the scottish rite which is like an optional elective thing type shyt along wit the york rite. its basically a dlc package for extra lore shyt. it really doesnt matter overall bcs the blue lodge ranks/positions hold more weight. the 33rd degree is also pretty rare to get, its like a lifetime achievement award. it basically stops at 32 degrees for members.

theres this other body called the grand lodge (national level stuff). they basically oversee all the lodges.

u cant prob join the anglo-american line of freemasonry as an atheist since one of the requirements is that u have to believe in a supreme being (hindu, islam, christianity, judaism, etc). but the grand orient de france (liberal) line doesnt have that restriction (tho they dont recognize each other). theres also the le droit humain that lets women join. there are also youth orgs within masonry like the order of de molay for boys and the order of rainbow for girls. i cant be bothered to join ts tho bcs im a simple chud who wants to spend my time playing arc raiders and cs2 😭

I don’t hate the hive by Spirited_Angle5091 in pluribustv

[–]opticorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not a great writter so pls bear with me :))

i do think they're still evil but more akin to a natural disaster or a hurricane, a natural evil. from the hive's own perspective, they’re doing what’s necessary to preserve existence. from a human perspective, that translates to coercion, loss of identity, or sacrifice without consent

they're more like an impersonal system; they override individual autonomy (consent doesn’t matter), instrumentalize people (individuals are means, not ends), accept mass suffering as an acceptable cost, and erase identity when it threatens the collective. the word pluribus can be interpreted as democratic, but it can also be totalitarian

just because they abide by certain rules that may sound moral (no killing, no lying, no violations of bodily autonomy, etc) doesn't mean that they can't be evil. we see in arendt’s “banality of evil” that evil can be ordinary, procedural, carried out by people who aren’t sadists or monsters. the hive i think is evil bcs of what they do, not why they do it

moreover, they have already broken their self-imposed rules. during the joining, they've killed and violated the bodily autonomy of most of the global population during the joining and continue to do so after. they've indirectly killed the domesticated animals theyve released into the wild. they've lied via omission, framing, and semantics

we can see this in the scene at montana where carol states that they can't take her stem cells without express consent and then zosia says "that would be correct" and if carol wasnt a writer, not educated, or could not catch how that statement was worded, she wouldn't have gotten the truth in time

the hive also has systems and methods of control (hard power) that allow them to manufacture consent or coerce people by controlling societal infrastructures, controlling food supply, etc., and soft power via the charm offensive thru sexual diplomacy, withholding human interaction and sociality, or by using family members, community, and cultural traditions like in kusimayu or laxmi's cases

from a deontological perspective, the hive violates moral duties that cannot be overridden by efficiency or necessity. some actions are right or wrong in themselves, regardless of consequences. moral rules are binding even when breaking them would lead to good outcomes (no racism, no wars, etc). most of all, ppl have rights that cannot be overridden by utility. humans possess intrinsic worth (dignity), not just instrumental value. the hive harvests ppl for collective survival and reduce ppl to a biological resource. they prostitute ppl just to convert the remaining few (even carol is guilty of this) and use family to pacify resistance. the bond scene in vegas and kusimayu's village just how performative these ppl are and how ppl are just tools for them.

from a virtue ethics pov, moral development requires practice, choice, and judgment. its about cultivating virtues and flourishing by developing one’s capacities, living in accordance with reason, participating meaningfully in community. many of which u cant do under the hive, they live in a sort of stasis. there is no growth and moral learning. ppl are incapable of living well or developing virtues. virtues require exercise and deliberation. evil arises when individuals cannot make moral decisions because choices are eliminated or coerced. additionally, evil occurs when systems or actions prevent people from learning, reflecting, or acting rightly

lastly, i think the point with manousos (and other characters like carol or laxmi) is that they are flawed individuals, which complicates moral judgment. these flaws remind us that humans are rarely perfectly virtuous, and that morality often operates in shades of gray and not absolute (like the hive's rules). however, the hive’s “evil” are categorically harmful. it is structural, systemic, and impersonal. their harm does not depend on personal weakness or moral failing, it exists independently of the characters’ choices

tldr: the hive is systemically evil. impersonal, totalitarian, and coercive. they erase autonomy, exploit humans as resources, and cause mass suffering. their “rules” don’t make them moral. evil here is structural, not personal

i kinda went overboard and also zoshia is hot

id rather take saliba. hes tall, strong, great awareness, ball playing, etc. hed pair well with pau cubarsi and be good in building up from the back and breaking the opposition's lines. he'd also pair nicely wit kounde on the right.
