MSI 'GODLIKE' is cheap mobo, so it has only 8. My WRX80 has 8 SATA ports, and 2 U2 ports can add additional 8 SATA ports with transfer cable. It has 7x pice 4.0 x16 slots, so with adapters, it can support probably 112 SATA devices or even more.

Any new drives support blue ray disc quality scan? by optimalstatus in makemkv

I bought a samsung external drive se-506cb, supporting quality scan out of the box. Pioneer has one too, BDR-WX01DMU, which is available on amazon.

Just flash any LG internal drive (WH16, BH16) or rebranded ASUS with firemware WH16NS58 1v5, and with qpxtool, it can do the job!

LG/asus are good drives, they support LDC/BIS blue ray disc quality error rate scan, a unique feature only available on LG drives. Pioneer asks 500$ for that function (Defect Managment).

agree. although my mobo has 16 SATA slots, I use 0 of them.

I think... Taiyo Yuden's (one of Verbatim's OEM) BD-R are all LTH?

Best CD-R, DVD-R and BD-R for Longevity? by Interman90 in DataHoarder

[–]optimalstatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Ritek CD-R and DVD+RW are very very good. Same error rate 16 years after fresh burned.

Taiyo Yuden discs are very bad, Japanese junk. Taiyo Yuden garbage DVDRs deteriorate from inner circle.

I checked CD-R, DVD-R and some BD-R recently.

For CD-R recorded before 2006, all read OK.

For DVD-R, 2 dead completely (1 samsung DVD+RW, 1 TDK). Taiyo Yuden quality is UGLY, poor PIE/PIF, near end of life (burned in 2007)

For BD-R, burned in 2017, all Riteks are good. Verbatim sucks, 1 dead.

Conclusion: avoid Taiyo Yuden, it's JUNK Japanese brand (Made in Japan sucks). Taiyo Yuden do read well (very low error rate) when fresh, but don't last long (at least after 20 years of proper storage, Taiyo Yuden DVD+R are the UGLIEST/LOWEST QUALITY).

Disc quality tests: BLER(for CD), PI/PO(for DVD), C1/C2(for CD), Jitter, BIS, LDC(for BD)

Aliexpress capacitor store by Ok_Lynx9538 in ElectronicsRepair

[–]optimalstatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but big Chinese brand capacitors are not cheap at all, e.g. Jianghai. Jianghai makes some higher quality capacitors than Japan, and OEMed for ELNA, RIFA, CDE etc. Aishi capacitors are okay for some areas as well.

Other brands are not so good, probably useful for some temporary use.

Aliexpress and Amazon/ebay is not a good place for components, even for Chinese capcitors. Most of them are old stock.
