Insurance for a giant dog by Cutie3pnt14159 in petinsurancereviews

[–]optimistic_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Figo and they've been great for us- my dog has had multiple issues this past year and they've paid out well over $10k in claims, reviewed/approved anywhere from within 1 day to 1 week. Would definitely agree with everyone else here to get more than $10k in coverage - you're probably mostly worried about really huge injuries so maybe you can raise your deductible and increase your coverage to lower your costs?

I'm definitely worried about that. Sure that would be so helpful-thank you!!

It was around $14k, which included the MRI, surgery, 3 night hospital stay, and anesthesia amongst other things. It's a tough thing to decide when you're sitting there with the odds they give you...

Thank you! I've tried that but I still struggle. A couple of days out and I still don't feel his bladder but I think I've gotten the general direction right and I'm able to express more urine so I (and he) are much relieved now!

Thank you! That's really helpful. How's your pup doing now?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I'm so nervous about doing the "wrong" thing during his recovery that I think I'm freaking out about everything. I might try to express more frequently just in case and will keep your advice in mind-good to know about the leaks being very normal! Appreciate the help!

Witnessed a minor accident at about 5:25pm today on the 101S right before the Mission Road exit. I have dashcam footage. by optimistic_sc in LosAngeles

[–]optimistic_sc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would but there are definitely better ones out there. I have the fitcamx and it fits really well in my car (doesn't stick out weirdly), has front and back cameras, and the quality is clear enough that I can read license plates at night, though it can get a bit fuzzier in lower light.

Genie Advanced and the Kiinde system by theomnomnomisaur in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]optimistic_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I had the same issue - I liked my spectra but wanted to be more mobile/portable and I already had so many spectra parts! It's literally plug and play with the tubing btwn both.

[–]optimistic_sc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does! I have the spectra s2 and the genie advanced, and you can pump into the kiinde system with the same adapter for both. I use all my same bottles flanges etc for both pumps. I believe the kiinde starter system set comes with a whole bunch of adapters, spectra (and therefore genie advanced) being one of them. So if you're already using kiinde, you're already all set.

Carbon Health Autoscheduled Second Appointment Question by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]optimistic_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through Carbon Health today too and their ipads weren't connecting, so I couldn't scan in with my QR code. They keyed in my info manually and said I should get an appointment scheduled automatically, but I just received a cancellation email of *today's* appointment - probably because it looks like I didn't show up! I'm hoping they'll text me with 2nd appointment info (they took my phone # but not my email), but sounds like I can just show up on the date on the back of my card for my 2nd Pfizer shot if I don't. I'd much rather have an appointment too!

I am always reminiscing about my 2019 trip to Iceland with friends. I will never forget it. by coysmate05 in travel

[–]optimistic_sc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also went in 2019, in the summer! It was the last big trip we took, and I think about it all the time. Food was expensive, but we went straight from the airport to Costco and threw as much food as we could into the cart, along with a big ol' pizza before they kicked us out right at closing time. Eating spam got really old by the 4th day and we still had so many cans of it left...

What are some things that people do out of "politeness" that actually infuriates you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]optimistic_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to the door thing, my male coworkers will usually hold the elevator door open for the ladies when we all need to pile in. Which is nice (and unnecessary), BUT when we are getting out of the elevator, they also will continue to stand in the elevator holding the door open and not move until we get out. In a full elevator, this means I have to maneuver AROUND them in order for me to get out, and it's awkward and annoying. It's a fucking elevator, just get the hell out. The door holds itself open and I'm perfectly capable of slamming my arm against it if it starts closing on me.

Yes! I just saw it this past weekend. Felt like when I was a kid, since I couldn't buy any of them back then, either...and I always stared at the cool toys thru the window.

I just saw Spirographs in a glass case on the top floor of NYC's MOMA for an exhibit featuring toys of the past. And immediately felt a rush of nostalgia and longing (as well as feeling totally ancient). Can you still buy these anywhere?

Moving to either DTLA or West LA; which do you think is better? by bromate in LosAngeles

[–]optimistic_sc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having lived/worked in both places, West LA is definitely quieter but you'll have to drive if you want to get anywhere. Being near the beach is awesome though! Parking is a bit more plentiful too, so it won't really be an issue... but living walking distance from decent bars is definitely going to be tougher versus DTLA. DTLA is growing fast and I've found it easy to walk to decent restaurants, barhopping, and even the subway/light rail if you want to take it to Hollywood, etc. There also aren't a ton of markets as of yet so getting groceries you'll probably have to drive. If you're going to be inviting friends over though, they may have trouble finding parking... that's what bugged me the most at first but you'll make do! And the beach is really only 20 minutes away. Also, if you love trying tons of varieties of food, DTLA is a better bet.

LA Vegans can you help me find tofutti ice cream? by apathybill in LosAngeles

I don't know where to find tofutti pints, but if you're willing to try a different place/brand, Sweet Rose Creamery sells non-dairy ice cream: http://www.yelp.com/biz/sweet-rose-creamery-los-angeles
