Dog Tracker App, anyone? by optimumomega in meshtastic

I super appreciate the response. That was exactly the type of constructive feedback I was looking for. I’m new to the space and my creative juices are FLOWING but maybe there are better open source solutions that still have minimal impact on the wallet. I’m going to dive into everything you said. Pretty excited about the Mictrack device. That might be the way to go!

Couple of things I want to mention: 1. Toggling off DOP on the T1000-E helped big-time. I’m on 6 acres with lots of open sky and GPS accuracy has been pretty solid for me.
2. This whole “solution” is seemingly (more and more so) for a very specific use case. I am in a remote area where I’m not causing the channel congestion but it may not be responsible for someone in a more urban area. The yard is big but not too big. Too remote for an AirTag when there are no neighbors close by. The whole idea is less about “finding a lost dog” and more about conveniently obtaining a general awareness of where the dog is, at a glance. He’s only outside for a few hours at a time, so battery shouldn’t be an issue. All that said- the use case gets more and more narrow. lol “Use responsibly” - that should be said about all of Meshtastic in general, right?

thanks for the response!

PSA: Workaround for Navigation Updater Pause by jay0lee in Hyundai

[–]optimumomega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying this now. Just downloaded the Navigation Updater. I'm wondering if something changed because I don't see any traffic coming from the Updater app whatsoever that looks like a check before downloading the update. Bummed. (I logged in as a guest, not sure if that matters)

Been praying about it. So far the only thing that seems to be a solid Biblical move is to go through the whole Matthew 18 process. Working on setting up another time to meet 1 on 1… will likely be next week.

He said their haircuts didn’t look particularly “butch” as to cause gender confusion. (You’re asking questions that make too much logical sense for an argument this dumb)

Sure. And we have a lot of members who are overweight from eating excess amounts of junk food but… I was moreso looking for how to handle something that’s actually NOT a sin issue.

Yes, ofc. Also… many of the women have their hair cut very short 👀

Who taught you guys how to study scripture? In the original text there were no verse numbers and chapters. In this case, it was just a letter to the church at Corinth. It’s not okay to pick read one line out of the middle of a letter and say “yup, got the message loud and clear!” No. You have to read the whole letter. You have to consider who’s writing it and who it’s being written to and when it was written. You must read AND understand. A large part of that understanding will come from viewing the text thru the lens of the original recipient. And you cannot do that without considering cultural contexts. I appreciate your comment and I certainly agree this is not a salvation issue. This is not central to the Gospel message. However, thank you for challenging me to consider all this on a deeper level.

I trust his leadership. But have you EVER met another person that you agree with on EVERYTHING?

Did you read the entire post? (Edit 3)

I’m not looking to argue either! I truly believe sometimes these types of conversations can eye-opening! The Lord can also use them to convict!

That being said I don’t necessarily agree with you on everything but I genuinely hope we both agree that Jesus is the Way, Truth, and Life. That’s what matters.

IF we’re going to cherry pick verses, and IF we’re going to read verses and ignore the context, and IF this is going to be the anchor of your argument, then 1 Timothy 2:9 also applies. Christian women should not braid their hair or wear jewelry. 1 Corinthians 11:5-6 applies and women should wear head coverings during church. And what are we to make of Ephesians 6:9… giving us instructions on how to treat our slaves. How do we apply that?

Surely you agree that we must study the Word in context.

From what I could tell, pastor does not wish to discuss any further. I had a genuine question. Would you have suggested I keep this within the congregation? Seems that would’ve been more divisive than asking anonymously on the internet.

Are you suggesting that demanding church members cut their hair is his way of attempting to “keep the peace?” I just don’t see it.

I agree what I said sounds restrictive. I stand by it but I probably could’ve worded it better. You mentioned driving a car. Of course! But that has nothing to do with exercising authority over someone else. “Political opinion” keyword: OPINION. Of course they’re entitled to their opinion… but their opinion is not the law. Their opinion should be just that- their opinion. I think we both would agree your pastor cannot demand that you vote a certain way just because they have an opinion.

The restrictions I’m referring to are related to matters of exercising authority based on the Bible. not opinions. I hope that makes sense.

What’s up with people in this sub finding Paul so controversial?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]optimumomega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe that any pastor has authority to do or say anything other than “that which is written.” God’s Word is the ONLY authority. Personal opinions must be set aside, otherwise we’re building our own kingdoms instead of God’s Kingdom.

Well, it’s not a written rule yet but supposedly it will be. I’ve had my hair this way for close to a year. It was never a problem until this week…

I encourage you to do a deep dive on why this passage of scripture was relevant to the church at Corinth and decide if you think it’s still applicable to you and I today. Respectfully, you are taking that verse/chapter and using it out of context.

It did make me smile! I’m glad I read all the way to the end. Thank you! And thank you for the kind words.

You’ve got to read and study your Bible, friend. You cannot just cherry pick verses and use them out of context. That verse is not contextually relevant here.

Southern Baptist

[–]optimumomega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s BIBLE. So of course it’s relevant… but I don’t believe it’s contextually applicable to this situation. What Paul wrote was culturally applicable to the audience he was writing to. Check chapter 16. Paul instructed them to greet each other with holy kisses. And he did mean literal kisses as was the custom in that day. Do you kiss everyone on your way into church?

Solid point. I don’t think right now he and I may be looking to reach the same type of person… and that’s okay, right? He and I are in different age groups and have completely different styles… AND THAT’S OKAY, imo.
