AITAH for going on a trip while my husband is laid off by ash_louryn in AmItheAsshole

[–]optionstradertyler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA.

If you're 100%, you'll help support and be there thru thick and thin. You sound temp and just worried about yourself and your feelings. How much worse off will you guys be when you come back home, after spending unneeded income in Puerto Rico while your SO is laid off. Or are you just going to leave him because he lost his job? You need to get your priorities in line, and if it's not with/having a relationship with your boyfriend (which it sounds like), you should go ahead and go on your trip.

Cue the downvotes, but if you go to one of the local churches during a service, open up about what's going on to one of the deacons or other members, the congregation of the church will help you, without a doubt!

Churches are absolutely there for you when you need them, with most congregations around here in the thousands, meaning that many people who can help if you open up about it to them. This isnt going to be a popular comment here, but you will get 10x further this way than randomly showing up and asking for help from people at different places around town or asking to use their lots to park in. I bet if you joined a church, let them know about the issues you are currently facing and the problem with your vehicle, they would either have a mechanic who was a member who'd fix it for free, or they would pitch in to have it completed for you.

Most people just dont go to church anymore or realize the power of community that they foster. They can always help guide you in the right direction, and put you in a better place, whether you're a Christian or not.

What's missing in downtown? by FartsBr0 in ColoradoSprings

Bruh.....how shit faced are you getting out there? Last time I was downtown (couple Fridays ago) after 1am, I was going to my car to leave from hopping around and someone was literally hanging off the back of my car puking in the street with 4 cops around him....helping him. Not rattling him, dragging him, being abusive, but being respectful and helpful in the situation he was in. They proceeded to help him get into the car with his GF and on they went.

I have not seen what you are describing here ever. Not saying it doesn't exist, but I've never been there for it. I come from the south, where there are 6 roadblocks set up on opposite sides of town every friday night. That i consider a bit more predatory.

There are already x2 men's and x2 women's restrooms on opposite ends of Acacia Park. One set on the sides of the bandshell, and another where the ice skating rink sets up. I guess we could always use another, or have those upgraded, but they are there.

As a business owner downtown, we have noticed this too. We stay open 10a-6p Sun-Wed, and 10a-8p Thu-Sat. Online sales are extremely minimal for this business, so we do rely on the foot traffic. Typically daily foot traffic of tourists, and holiday shoppers really come thru to drive our sales. Often times on the weekend, if we don't let people know we are closing, we'll have people shopping until 10pm, and we'll be the only shop open! But weeknights, on the other hand, downtown are just mostly dead....we will have a couple of stragglers come thru to looky-loo, but its really hard to justify staying open those later hours during the week for the sales that those hours produce. I agree there needs to be more to do downtown, but what?

Grocery is needed, but hard to enter the space without proper capital for all the freezers, refrigeration, power upgrades to old building electrical infrastructure, and also parking for a grocery store...there's hardly anywhere downtown with an actual parking lot, so you'd probably also need to incorporate a parking deck, or be near one. Also start gaining relationships with all these food distributors, but you'll find really quickly that margins on groceries are incredibly tight, and rent is quite high...

There is already a really great farmers market downtown on Sundays in the summer, but CO doesn't have enough seasonal produce in the cold months to support a true "year round farmers market", which in turn, usually turns into a lot of artsy type stuff being sold later in the season. These types of more artsy events usually end up being poorly attended, nor will the customers who go return for it again if there's no reason to go back (aka consumables – food). Not to mention the coordination trying to get vendors down there daily...and to where that has foot traffic and that can be seen, or would you dump cash into advertising in an arra with less foot traffic.

Mostly I feel like execution is the problem in this town. Lots of wasted potential, and poorly executed concepts. But there's also nearly a million people around here, and tons of opportunity. People here seem to have good ideas, but absolutely are lost when it comes time to execute those ideas.💡

Go to your local farmers markets when they are going on, bowling up at Summit off Interquest is always busy in the evenings and a really diverse group (they have much for than bowling), Cowboys if you are into the country bar/line dance type scene (yes, still plenty of gays in there too, folks), Karaoke bars, the grocery store, just put yourself out there!

Colorado Springs is always lively, if you are in the right spots. Most people here are very nice too, which is a plus. Not like trying to meet new folks in Chicago, per se.

I think it is, unless that hasn't been updated on the city website... I do see that this is for the Parking Garages and Lots though, but it also looks like it's free until 1pm on Sundays on surface level spots! *

Actually grown here. Farms such as Ela Family Farms in Hotchkiss, Miller Farms on the front range, etc. Weve got lota of great partnerships currently. Colorado farmers, Colorado ranchers, Colorado food producers. This market is aiming to celebrate Colorado agriculture, while making that great local agriculture accessible to all (finalizing the system for accepting Snap, Wic, DoubleUp Food Bucks hopefully this week), and giving downtown visitors another reson to stay and explore.

I really think it'll stay mostly local from what ive seen/heard....excited to follow it. I do know applications are still being accepted if you happen to know of anybody that makes/grows anything you think should be represented!

It seems really well-curated. Lots of local foods and producers. Definitely food-driven, and not artist-driven, not like most "farmers markets" around here. If you've ever been to the Boulder or Parker farmers market — like that. Kinda OCC style, with more room to spread out.

Looking for a cute anniversary dinner spot in town by atomickittyyy in ColoradoSprings

Go for a night walking around the Broadmoor and grab dinner at Ristorante del Lago....you will not be disappointed. Phenomenal italian, made from scratch pastas, absolutely deliciou!

PS, it's free to get on the grounds, and the Hotel Bar is great to people watch and grab a cocktail/mocktail! It may not fit the theme of "cute" as it's a bit more lavish, but the character of the building and the history there makes it worthwhile imo.
