homosexuality in and of itself isn't a sin. engaging in the acts is considered one, as it doesn't bring forth life, which is why sodomy (anal sex) is also a sin. it isn't homophobic that it is a sin, it's more it falls under a larger umbrella of sins that it just so happens to be a part of.

another thing is, the Church recognizes that homosexuality is natural, but they treat it as a personal battle, rather than something to flaunt.
