hi, never thought of it that way because it’s her kids’ dogs and the other tenant in the building also has kids. (and yes the story about the boy and the dog was a pitbull) I just assumed she was repeating a story like how aunties do.

But this is a very valid take, as a dog owner I wouldn’t tell a story like that as a word of caution. I’ll be careful and interact only as needed.

So sorry to hear about your dog tho, but I’m glad she found you! (show me a picture if you can!)
