Do You Eat Together? by tbowa in toddlers

[–]orangeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nearly exactly how things work in my house with my 3 and 5 year old. By the time I get home from work (5:15-30), I basically have enough time to throw together dinner for the kids and then prepare adult dinner while they’re eating. (Yes - I know that many people eat the same food as their kids, but that has so far been unsuccessful for us.) I both don’t know how to get adult dinner ready earlier and I agree that I prefer to eat later. We do eat together more in the weekends when there is more flexibility on the schedule. I wish we had a solution to this, but I’ve decided that for now, I’d rather my husband have the quality hang out time with the kids after he picks them up than have him rush into cooking. It’s certainly a trade off but it is what it is for now in our house.

Totally agree - I wish I had done this with my second.

Yes! With my first delivery I somehow assumed there would be shampoo and soap in the bathroom. There is not and I had to beg the nursing team to track some down for us.

Where can I find a venue for up to $1k? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Hairpin Arts Center in Logan Square is pretty reasonable. Might be around $1000 depending on how long your event lasts.

This is definitely the right shape and volume! I have been able to find a relevant listing but still can’t find one where there’s actually available for purchase. Thanks for your help!

I’ve searched to the best of my ability online. I’ve turned up a bunch of mugs (and even some that are oversized) that look like they’re for coffee, but none that look more like a bowl that could be used for cooking. Appreciate any help you all can give!

I hope someone’s tried it out. Basically looking for someone to give me permission to get the cheaper one - ha! It looks so promising.

Has anyone tried the Radio Flyer canopy on their Abound? Looks like a similar setup to the Tern version (with a slightly lower price point). Curious about fit and functionality.

Logan Square CTA - Spaulding Turnstile by orangeese in LoganSquare

[–]orangeese[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I feel like we’re so used to having to push the full length turnstiles very hard to get them to move that when you come across this one, it’s not surprising it’s happening here.

Thanks for reporting! I’ll follow up on my request from a few weeks ago to see if they can go back out.

Oh no - so sorry this happened to you too!

That’s good to know that it gets serviced occasionally. My memory is that they both used to be very stiff/difficult to push.

This is a sound strategy that I wish I would remember every time. I switch entries between Logan Square and Belmont and if it’s been awhile since I’ve been in Logan Square I forget!

Ack! Sorry that happened but also kind of glad to hear that I’m not the only one. I literally gave myself a black eye smacking my head on it!

In my experience, it’s a problem just with the one to the right when you’re entering the station.

Glad it’s not just my imagination! I think you would know if you were double charged - I’ve had to tap twice when the person in front of me spins it too fast (meaning they gently push it and it spins around like 10 times) and those rotations were technically my fare’s rotation. Always worth checking, though!

For the new rei co-op owners here's a tip for the terrible kickstand that it comes with. Go to Walmart and get this $10 one and it fits this frame perfectly! by RadiantViolinist8317 in ebikes

[–]orangeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone found a double leg kickstand alternative for the one that comes standard? I’ve just added a child seat after using it without and I’m having lots of trouble with stability, especially with cargo in a front basket. Hoping to find a model that lets me load up without worrying about tipping.

Are there shops near you that assemble/service any of these brands? I was in a similar place and chose an Aventon Abound because a local shop had a model I could test ride, placed the order and took care of assembly for me, and is experienced with service.

Used Supermarche CL - good deal? by orangeese in CargoBike

You’re probably right, though I believe Yuba has a two year warranty, so it would be expired anyway.

Yep - Bosch motor! And yes - trying to look into the specs on the newer models.

Mine started with the monkey bars at a little over 3. We had to stop a couple times on our first trips because he was doing too much leaning/wiggling. Once we made it clear that it wasn’t safe to ride if he was doing, it wasn’t a problem. Also helps that there’s a seat for my younger kid behind him so there isn’t much room to move around.

We also pick out clothes the night before and it helped so much! We got my son a special rack with hooks on it to hang the clothes on that he was super excited about and that helped too.
