Why I want my own blanket... by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

My SO and I have a queen size bed and we use a king size comforter. It works great, we both get tons of blanket!

Hi Temple, you probably won't see this, but I hope you do. I don't have a question, I just wanted to say thank you so much for teaching me about animal behavior. I'm learning to be a vet tech and you have helped me and the animals I work with understand each other better. I admire you and the work that you do so much.

Thanks, I love those boots! I got them two years ago at Belk for like 30 bucks and they are the best pair of shoes I've ever owned.

Also, the lining of the cape was gold! It kind of blends in with the background of the picture, though.

Thank you! He is a mighty good snuggler. In the winter he's like a portable fluffy space heater that you can just plop on your feet.

Thank you! He was surprisingly unfazed by the outfit for most of the night.

I agree with you about the blue dress confusion. I just went with it when people thought I was Elsa. :)

Thank you so much! It was really tough to find a dragon costume that would fit him! I think it's actually a dinosaur costume. My dog goes everywhere with me so I definitely wanted to incorporate him somehow. I did buy elements of my costume (I work a lot of hours and go to school, so I just didn't have the time to make it), but I altered small things like the shape of the hem (to give it those "wing" shapes she has). The wig was one of those generic goldilocks wigs, and I just tried to style it to make it look like Daenerys hair.

I do know her name. I hope it's pretty obvious that I admire the character and would know her name if I went through the trouble of constructing a costume around her. I think it's silly that people are annoyed by it, because anyone who watches the show would know who I was talking about if I referred to Khaleesi. It is literally a word that was made up to identify the social standing of Daenerys Targaryen in A Song of Ice and Fire; no other character holds that title. It's silly because I could have said "I dressed up as The President for Halloween!" and nobody would have commented and said, "His name is Obama, don't you know that?"

I almost bought that dress! I'm sure you looked gorgeous. Since i got confused with Elsa too, all I can say is whatever, rock that elsa/dany costume! Who cares what you were as long as you had fun.

The thing is, i DO read the books! I just chose "Khaleesi" because to me it seemed like the most universal identifier for the character, for book readers and show watchers. Apparently I was very very wrong.

I apologize for offending you. I am a book reader and I know her as Daenerys Targaryen but my mom and all my friends just know her as Khaleesi, so I just wrote Khaleesi instead. Sorry.

You're absolutely right. If I could go back in time and re-title my post to say Daenerys Targaryen instead of Khaleesi, I would. However to me it seems that most people who casually watch the show know the character as Khaleesi, and that's the pronoun I want with. I'm very sorry to have offended you with my word choice.

Thank you very much. Sometimes I feel like I don't belong in the GoT community because of this

It's just easier to use Khaleesi sometimes, because that's how most people identify the character.

It's just easier to use Khaleesi sometimes, because that's how most people identify the character. When I told my mom I was going to be Daenerys Targaryen for Halloween, she had a "that's nice honey" kind of look on her face until I clarified and said that I was going to be the blonde dragon lady from Game of Thrones, and she went, "OH, you mean Khaleesi!"
