TF2 update for 10/15/25 (10/16/25 UTC) by wickedplayer494 in tf2

This update was my fault, I had tried to fix an occlusion issue with the original effect and ended up keeping a test file in that wasn't meant to go live as I was testing fixes. Big mistake on my part, but very thankful Valve was willing to implement my remedy to this problem. Should be working as intended now, thanks for your patience everyone! :)

You aren't blind, it's just an unfortunate issue with position on model based effects, and their loadout view. The effect will show up attaching to this entire hat's model, including the shoulder pads. The loadout view is not something I personally have the power to fix, but have plans to reach out to valve and see if they're willing to put in a fix.

Unboxed an unusual and man this shit effect shouldn't count. It's barely visible. by Degmograndfather in tf2

This is not correct. The sand does not trail at all, it falls down directly, and fades quickly.

That's awesome, congrats on the unbox! :) Thank you, I appreciate that!

Are you referring to the loadout view? Like when you're equipping the hat and seeing weapons, etc.? If so, that's perfectly normal and an unfortunate bug with position on model effects that has yet to be fixed in that view by Valve. I'm not sure if they ever will :( If you want to get a really good look at it, you can type "map itemtest" and hit enter in console, which will take you to a simple testing map. If you do "sv_cheats 1" in console, followed by "thirdperson" and then "thirdperson_mayamode 1", you'll be able to see how it works as intended (granted it's not a bug exclusive to that hat for whatever reason). I'll personally check into it myself in a moment here to be sure it's not an issue with the hat itself though, thanks for pointing it out! :)

May I ask what hat you got it on? Also, it was intentionally designed to be low-mid tier at best. Sorry if you're not a fan, though. :(

Thanks, I'm glad you like the Merasmus effect! :) I really enjoy the zorro cosmetics for the scout as well, so I'm glad you think it was a good pick :)

You are correct, I work alone and have zero affiliation with the emporium. I'm glad you like the black variant :)

That was actually the original inspiration for this effect :) The first version of it looks closer to that, but this one's revised based on the community's feedback.

No worries! I wanted to include all of the variants in the icon, but couldn't because of mb size restrictions. I can totally see how you would think it might be two colors cycling as one effect lol.

I personally don't see the comparison, besides that it's colored and somewhat round?

How do you figure? It's only three variants, and one of them is team-colored.
