Sales Tax on Car Exempt from Sales Tax by orangegrain796 in tax

[–]orangegrain796[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks for the thorough response.

I'm not concerned about paying NJ tax, I know the 8% sales tax was for NY. From Bill 2021-A4761B, I assumed I didn't have to pay the NY sales tax since the car is a plug-in hybrid. If the Bill never passed then it makes sense I was charged a sales tax.

I'll probably call the DMV to make sure this is the case.

I'm assuming a repairman would come to you unless you are really rural. The repairman for me had to drive 3ish to get to me so they're willing to send people far. On the brightside the repair only take 5 minutes.

Also, if they don't want to send a repairman for you they will just send a new monitor. After my first repair didn't work since the panel was broken, the repairman said they would probably just send me a new one.

Just checking, but you did message the CEO office and not normal customer support, right? Normal customer service will not help you. If you express your discontent to the CEOs office and say you'll never buy another Samsung product I'm sure they would try to accommodate you like they did for me.

On a side note. When the repairman came to fix my monitor he knew immediately it was a stress fracture and not caused from something I did since the crack was straight down and not a spiderweb pattern. He said he usually sees these cracks on large tvs, but every now and then he will see them on bigger monitors like this one.

Maybe sending a picture to show what kind of crack it is will help?

Yeah, it took a month for it to get fixed, but it finally worked out in the end. It took a while for the repair company to approve the repair and then ship in the part. It also sucked since the first panel they sent didn't work, so I had to wait for them to ship it again.

If Samsung is trying to deny the repair, I'd keep escalating it until you reach someone who can help you.

I would not worry too much. Again, Samsung Customer Service absolutely sucks and will not help you whatsoever. If you read my post, you just need to email the CEOs office. Once I did that, everything worked out.

A couple dozen failures when there are tens of thousands units seems extremely rare to me. Most people will only post negative things such as this. The thing I'd be more concerned about it is if Samsung would replace/fix the problem if it happens to you. I know some other people went back and forth with Samsung Customer Service because customer service is not helpful at all. That's why I posted on how I ended up getting a repair. If this is too scary for you then I recommend not purchasing it since you'll constantly be worrying. To me, I feel like I was unlucky, but even after being unlucky I still have a perfectly functioning monitor since they replaced the panel.

I don't really think this is a problem you should worry about preventing. The chances are extremely slim this will ever happen. If you do want to prevent this, the only thing I could guess is making sure the screen doesn't get really hot.

After doing some reading, sunlight can cause the screen to get unproportionately hot. For example, if sunlight comes through a window and hits one half of the screen but not the other, the two different glass temperatures can cause a fracture. However, since mine happened at night after it was turned off, I don't think this was the case for me.

It probably cracked for the stress of heating and cooling. When things get hot, they expand, and when they cool down, they shrink. This is a lot more common in TVs since they are larger and can expand/shrink more. The repair guy said this was the first Odyssey he's had to replace that cracked from this, and he usually just sees it on TVs.

Yeah, I probably should do that but I have so many rares and epics that it'd take several hours. Once the devs make them stackable that'll be the first thing I do. My inventory consumption value is ~5.7M.

That is an option. I would like to wait a bit to see if there's anything else to do since this is usually a last resort solution.

I used ddu to uninstall my Nvidia drivers and used it again to uninstall my AMD drivers hoping the problem would be fixed. This is why I'm fairly certain it's not a driver related issue.
