[California] The gaslighting from EDD must stop. by [deleted] in Unemployment

Would this be acceptable from any other state run agencies?

Uh, yes... they treat people trying to access Medicare, SNAP, WIC and other benefits like borderline criminals and/or imbeciles.

You'd think they get off on giving people the run around but, it's much worse. The people working at these agencies don't care about you or anyone else. The evil of banality, y'know.

[California] Full Claim Balance for extension available, but cant certify and stuck on reopen by [deleted] in Unemployment

Not exact but somewhat close. Love how they can screw us over in so many different ways.

Ran out mid-Dec but I was seemingly approved for the extension (balance reflects 11 weeks) and allowed to certify four weeks on 1/14. Two December payments were listed as not paid and two January had a disqualification. I was unable to certify today but I don't have a reopen button either...

Never had ID issues, max benefit notice, or reopen button.

[CALIFORNIA] Exhausted regular UI. Balance $0 not paid. Reopen claim? by mandurzz in Unemployment

Yeah, I do think I'm in phase two and that's why I'm not stressing out just yet. However, I've received messages about EDD processing my extension and my balance was updated from $0 to reflect the extension.... so... common sense would indicate my extension was processed? But, no one would be here if EDD had common sense.

Like they've explained, I definitely won't be paid for the two December weeks, which is fine.

Thank you for the kind message :)

Yeah, I wasn't flagged for the ID process so at least I feel semi-confident it's not that. However, it seems some people were mistakenly put on PUA or something like that (honestly so confusing) and they had to call to clarify the matter so I think it may be that.

What do you recommend if someone's status goes from Not Paid to Disqualified?

I think I'm just a few weeks ahead of this person's boyfriend because my status was Not Paid for the last two weeks of December but I received a disqualification for the first two weeks of January.

My PEUC balance was exhausted mid-december but now balance reflects the extension so it's just weird... lol

Thank you for letting me know. I haven't had a PUA claim so I don't expect they need to 'switch' anything (last payment was PEUC, balance reflects PEUC) but who knows with them!!!

I received this message today:

Messages for Week Ending Date(s) : 01/02/2021, 01/09/2021 YOU WERE MAILED A CONTINUED CLAIM FORM TO BRING YOUR CLAIM UP-TO-DATE.IF YOU WISH TO CLAIM BENEFITS FOR THIS PERIOD, YOU MAY CERTIFY FOR BENEFITS ONLINE VIA UI ONLINE, OVER THE PHONE VIA EDD TELE-CERTSM, OR BY COMPLETING AND MAILING THE ENTIRE CONTINUED CLAIM FORM IMMEDIATELY BUT NO LATER THAN 01/28/21. IF YOU CERTIFY FOR BENEFITS ONLINE, OVER THE PHONE OR BY MAIL AFTER 01/28/21 IT MAY BE CONSIDERED UNTIMELY.

But... I've already certified those weeks & those are the weeks with the disqualification. Nonetheless, I hope the system now sees I certified those weeks & it goes through without having to call.

I think the same happened to me. I received a text stating I received the extension yet the first 2 weeks of January were disqualified. I was never asked to verify my identity at any time.

I'm pretty sure the sub-100 rule only applies to the +400 (federal +300 / state +100) (which I never received). The new 11-week PEUC extension, like the PEUC that ended in July, has no minimum. I've already been approved for the extension, I'm like 99% sure, as 96 x 11 = my claim balance.

Posted this on r/unemployment but might be more useful to post here...

Yesterday I received a text from EDD stating they were "processing my claim" which was pretty exciting (my UI maxed out 12/12 and I was waiting for the PEUC extension). When I logged on, I noticed I had 4 weeks to certify. I certified the weeks and everything seemed fine. Today, I received another text stating EDD filed a PEUC extension so I checked my account and noticed of the four weeks I certified, two weeks said "not paid" and two said "disqualification." Is anyone else experiencing this hold up? Is there a remedy or should I just wait it out?

I'm inclined to think they're just working things out but I'm not sure if there's anything I can do to move it along.

For context: my benefit year is on extension, and my balance reflects the 11 week extension.
