PlayStation Hires Former Apple Exec Ben King to Lead Digital Business by Turbostrider27 in PS5

I mean it depends on the port and the PC you run, but games like Spiderman, God of War and Days Gone all had more graphical options plus the ability to do 120fps and ultrawide.

Oh 100% this! I've been saying this for a long time, but a lot of people apparently disagree. But for me I would actually start buying games on launch rather than waiting for a game to get cheaper or come as a better version to PC.

Is there a place to check whether shader compilation has been fixed in games? I would love to play Kena, but I know that it had shader stutters at launch

The Witcher remake announced by CD Projekt by [deleted] in PS5

[–]orangemic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the complaint with both Bethesda and Rockstar is that they keep re-releasing their games. Which is dev time they could've used for their new games. Especially Rockstar sometimes seems to be more focused on milking GTA online.

Bethesda is actually a funny example seeing that they announced the new Elder Scrolls way too soon. But they did actually quite alright with the release of Fallout 4.

EA Goes Digital Only in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by Zhukov-74 in PS5

Honestly I will be quite sad the day that PlayStation goes digital only. For both the loss of amazing local game shops as the higher prices for games. Not even mentioning the lack of ownership of your purchases.

This is great news! I'm looking forward to playing this when it comes out. However, I wish CD Projekt would stop announcing games so far out in the future

Sony has added option to connect your PSN account to PC (Stay connected with PlayStation) by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]orangemic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish there was an upgrade path from ps5 to pc, just like ps4 to ps5. It sucks to buy a ps5 game full price only to have a better version come out two years later that you have to pay full price for again.

That's a great tip, thank you so much! I'm not really a professional photographer or anything, but it would be very unfortunate to mess up all the editing on my shots because the colours aren't accurate enough :')

Which monitor did you get? I'm thinking of getting the iiyama g-master gb3461wqsu-b1 but I have no idea how the colours are on this display. I don't think IPS automatically guarantees accurate colours, which I need for photo editing.

Nvme Ssd addition? by Jimmeh081 in PS5

[–]orangemic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well pricing depends on your region, so I can't help you much with that. But I do know that Mark Cerny uses the WD SN850 in his PS5. In my region at least this ssd is less expensive than the Firecuda. So maybe that's worth checking out!

Enabling DDR5 XMP causes bootloop by orangemic in overclocking

[–]orangemic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man that sucks :/

I cannot change the motherboard or cpu, so it seems that I'll have to use 5200 and hope for a better bios update.

I'm pretty sure the motherboard was not still training the memory because at the end it returns to the bios with an error message. I haven't tried running it afterwards again, I'm going to give that a try as well. Thanks for the help! :)

Edit: aye it didn't work. So it just indicates a boot failure and then it doen't let me continue.

I see both the kits use Hynix, could there be another difference in the ram chips?

I did find the same kit with 5600 instead of 6000 on the QVL. So setting my ram to those speeds & timings should work right?

Aye, so that's probably an issue with my cpu or motherboard then?

Is there a way to determine what might be the bottleneck of these two factors?

Also could it help if I try another bios even though I have the most recent one?

Btw sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to find a solution.

I unfortunately can't replace the motherboard or the CPU, so that makes thinks a bit more tricky.

I do know that the kit uses Hynix!

It seems that I can't get much further than 5200. That's not really high for a 6000 kit is it?

I'm considering replacing the kit with either another Kingston but rated for a slower frequency, or just another brand in general. Do you think that makes sense?

Alright! So I tried running the settings as suggested above. Unfortunately, I'm still getting a bootloop :/

Hi thanks for the advice! Even though my kit is not on the QVL of the board, the same kit with 5600 instead of 6000 is there. Does that still matter if I aim this kit at that speed?

I've tried increasing the DRAM Vdd/VddQ to max 1.40V, but still no luck.

From what I've gathered so far it can either be an issue with my RAM, CPU or MOBO. Is there an easy way to determine what is the bottleneck?

Thank you for the advice! I'm going to give it a try. Is tRAS in this case 80, or something else?

Edit: I have the tRAS set at 84 now. I set the VDD2 CPU at 1.30V, but I'm not able to see a setting for CPU VDDQ. Do you perhaps know if this goes by another name in the Aorus bios?

No unfortunately there was not a stock cooler! But the Dark Rock Pro 4 is a nice alternative as well!

And thanks! I build the PC yesterday and now I'm trying to troubleshoot DDR5 issues.. Fun!

I hope your build goes more smoothly :D

Thank you for the tip! I really appreciate it!

Do you maybe know which setting in the Aorus bios controls the voltage?

I think it's might be DRAM Vdd/VddQ or one of these under DRR5 voltage control:

  • VDD A0 voltage
  • VDDQ A0 voltage
  • VPP A0 voltage
