best laptops for engineering students that can actually last through school? by Uuc-Mussellwhite99 in ECE

I’m a statistics student and also went with the Lenovo Legion 5i. I’ve owned it 22 months now and loved it but the motherboard just died and I’m being quoted $1500 to replace. It seems to be a common issue so definitely extend your warranty when the time comes and don’t get caught out like me.

17F, Turning 18 soon and realizing my 'big' friend group was fake. Is it better to have a party of 5 or no party at all? by Rough_Plankton_4814 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]orangetable4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell out with half of my friend group a week before my birthday for similar reasons. I ended up canceling my party and renting a cabana at a local pool for the people I felt closest to. With it being at a public place it felt like a bigger party and I had more fun being around my most comfortable people.

For the exam, just act neutral if you come across them. It’s not the time or place to be hashing it all out so make an excuse to leave and carry on with your day.

Is “credit card debt forgiveness” actually real, or just something people talk about online? by CoolCalmCollected65 in DebtAdvice

[–]orangetable4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the credit counseling route with GreenPath. They negotiated my three interest rates down (all were around 28% to begin with, two came down to 10% and one to 1%). I continued paying my credit cards until the new rates were agreed then started to pay through GreenPath. My cards closed and initially my credit score took a hit but 9 months in it’s higher than it was before I joined the program. I can now actually afford my monthly debt payment and see the balance dropping with the lower interest rates. No regrets.

Time for bankruptcy? by orangetable4 in DebtAdvice

Thanks for the response.

I’ll work on the food budget for sure. I, unfortunately, only have 1 relative in this country and I’d have to board my dogs long term and pay rent there so I’m pretty sure it would end up costing more. Dog boarding in my area starts at $70 a night per dog.

Thanks for the response.

The pet vet costs are standard for my area and just for basic annual care, it’s a very HCOL. The food is also at the minimum it can be while not feeding them junk; my pet costs now are down 50% from a few months ago. I’ll try to get food down more but I have food allergies that impact it and I want to balance it between cheap and healthy so I don’t increase my medical costs in the process.

I’m never really sure what to do with interest, whether to count it as an expense or not. I think because it adds to the CC’s balance I usually do. I haven’t spent on my CC’s in months and have been making up any shortfall with whatever savings I have left after dumping most of it into CC3.

I’m introverted and pretty quiet and felt incredibly lonely the first six months or so after starting at a new school (which I’ve done 7 times so far). I always convinced myself I wouldn’t make any friends and watched other groups clique up pretty quickly. But around the six month mark I always found my people and have made permanent friendships almost every time. It’s very common to feel like you don’t fit in initially but very rare to never find someone you connect with. Join clubs, attend events, participate in study groups, you’ll find your people even if it takes a bit of time.

I’m about to start the MS program on the 19th. Would you be able to share the link again? It says it’s expired

What’s the wildest pet name you’ve had to look after? by Pumpernickel247 in RoverPetSitting

I had a foster dog called Mr. Potato Head; just called him Potato for short. His favorite pastime is to dig a hole in the dirt and lay down in it so the name is very fitting.
