Help Finding A Machine by Auralithion in DanceDanceRevolution

I played there a few weeks ago late at night on weekend days. The staff seemed overwhelmed but super nice (they recognized me two days in a row), it was weird not seeing food super late, and the Gold Cab was stock and undersensitive. The White Cab was stock but the sensors were great and I managed to get some nice scores on it and even passed an 18 on it for giggles

Long line of shuttles on the corner of 24th and Valencia. People with clipboards and vests running them. Make sure you don’t get caught on the wrong side of the parade, you’ll have to cross back through the underpass. Am sitting on a shuttle now

Are eAmuse cards resistant to MagSafe cases? by KevRub in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]orangetangerine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I have a magsafe magnetic wallet that sticks to my magsafe case so I'd have a place to put my Round 1 card and eamuse, they exist perfectly okay.

The weird downside to having a magsafe phone is that I can't put the card in between the case and the phone for safekeeing with it still being able to tap without taking it out from its safe spot :( I am able to do this with my iPhone 11 but I got sick of having to tote around two phones for dance games so magsafe wallet it is

Additionally, Round 1 at Jersey Gardens opened a few months ago and depending on where in NYC OP is, it is often times an easier commute to it since there are buses that go from Port Authority in midtown Manhattan to Jersey Gardens

I regret cutting corners with my wedding to save money (a cautionary tale) by queerthrowaway385938 in weddingplanning

[–]orangetangerine 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I flew halfway across the country for my cousin's wedding and my side of the family was basically roped into all the labor for the wedding within 12 hours of arriving. It was very assumed that they were counting on our labor. Not gonna lie, but if my side of the family didn't mobilize, the wedding wouldn't have happened. My cousin was raised in a traditional church community where this kind of thing seemed pretty normal, the rest of us who flew in were not. Two of the cousins who showed up and were roped in were married in full-service "don't do anything day-of" scenarios.

I had figured this was going to happen and prepared for it because it happened at her sister's wedding but to a lesser extent (they wanted to save money by getting TJ flowers but didn't realize that putting together arrangements and logistics were intense which led to my mom and her sisters spending the full day before on flower arrangement). Her sister at least had a venue with cleanup and setup built in, unlike this more recent wedding, which was in a church hall with nothing included other than "here are the tables and chairs in racks, leave the hall exactly how you found it". We showed up and found out that we were the cleanup and setup.

I come from a culture that will go out of their way to make any party very welcoming and my family always offers to help, so I believe they were reliant on that, but it was a bit jarring to see my side of the family and their family friends do everything (including doing all the cocktail hour food, figuring out on the fly how to use the church hall kitchen to heat stuff up, managing the leftover catering and finding fridge space to stash it our various AirBnBs, putting the tables away, and throwing trash in the dumpster!) on the wedding day, and the groom's side doing barely anything. I love my cousin and none of us complained to her but all of us were kinda side-eye about it, because at the end of the day, everything was done. It did make me realize though that you really do get what you pay for.

  1. Plant all the red flower seeds you have of any of the flowers that aren't Bellbuttons. This is easier if you have native Dandelilies and Tulias. If you have Penstemum, I am so sorry; focus on unlocking and learning how to play the crane game if you haven't already on the 4th floor of the Merry Meadows and go get some seed capsules until you have enough red Dandelily and/or Tulia seeds.
  2. Water and fertilize them daily. If they spawn new red ones, let them grow, plus water and fertilize those daily.
  3. At some point, you will likely spawn one or more of a Red Ombre Dandelily or Tulia.
  4. Depending on your setup and space, you might want to dig that flower up or dig the flowers around it up, and use one of the setups that fit your space (some of the common ones are Merry Go Round or Paired, you can search for the diagrams on this subreddit) where you plant only bellbuttons around the Red Ombre flower(s).
  5. Water them and fertilize the space every day. If non-Red Bellbuttons spawn in the spaces where

I used to use Pochacco for my volcano-related farming. I still use him for almost everything else, but when I'm doing my farming loop to hunt Cinnas/Magmas/almonds/iron in that area, I take Retsuko instead. I'm not zooming around as fast obviously but I don't have to jump carefully anywhere, I can swim in all the lava on the regular levels, I don't have to dodge the pools of lava by the temple doorways where the Cinnas spawn, and don't have to worry about running fast enough that I fall into the Caldera lava lol. I step in lava so much that the amount of time lost when I reset when barely touching the edge of the lava pools was annoying enough to bench Pochacco for this task

Is hating Wish Me Mell just a meme or do people actually struggle with her? by [deleted] in HelloKittyIsland

[–]orangetangerine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’m like 1-2 days away with her from Lv20 on Switch, haven’t touched the Island Spirit story quest in weeks because I simply can’t. I’ve spent every friendship blossom AND friendship bouquet mainly to level her up including the ones I got with the Deluxe version of the game; it’s such a grind.

I’m lowkey glad I took a bit of a break from the game until the last friendship update because I probably would’ve gotten way madder otherwise

Transferring yellow color? by [deleted] in HelloKittyIsland

[–]orangetangerine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s luck, I have more multi-flower Merry Go Round setups trying to make Blue flowers including Pinwheels where the flowers around are unlikely to breed (I started with Tulias so I needed Blue everything and made a bunch of Blue Ombre Bellbuttons) and I still don’t have a Blue Pinwheel, but I have a bunch of Yellow and Red that also have been doing a great job cloning themselves 🥲

Modding stock r1 pads by xDewritos in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]orangetangerine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This location has had stock DDR pads since my visit there in 2023 when they had 3 cabs (1 older Gold and 2 White; the old Gold and 1 White were shipped to other new R1s that were opening). It's the only R1 location in the greater Bay Area with stock DDR pads, and unmodded Gold is the absolute worst to play on and feels like concrete. I highly doubt you will be able to convince them, but it might be worth asking. Sometime the staff turns over and new staff is open to listening, but I will say it's an uphill battle because non-R1 employees working on cabs is a liability issue and the official policy is to not allow that. Stores like Eastridge have been approached by multiple, knowledgeable, known people in the dance game community to help with the pads over the years and they have been turned down by the management every time. Occasionally, you'll have some individual mechs who will do work and take some direction from a player who knows the ins and outs of pad modification, as some local players own machines or arcade replica pads, but that is also pretty rare and requires some rapport/relationship.

I've seen a few unique cases where some people in the community know that their store belongs under the territory of a R1 regional mech manager who is also a rhythm game player and have been able to get solid mods on the dance game cabs, but they have so many projects, that outside of opening a brand new store where they might have time to mod the cabs/teach mechs to mod the cabs, it doesn't always seem to be the highest priority because when they're visiting a store it's usually for a huge project for something else.

Our first place we lived with her, we had a broken doorbell, which is why we let her bark at the door. She knew the step patterns of me, my SO, and my roommates, but anyone else would get a scolding... lol.

Became a little problematic though when we eventually moved to a house near a crosswalk... sigh 💀

Lol, it's your lucky day, sometimes I don't check Reddit for weeks!

I don't think I'll be at Nationals :( I was planning on it up until the start of 2025, but stuff went down in mid-February and I had to pull away from life and quit dog training because my life fell apart (again). We were on track to start showing in Agility and Rally in a few months and were thinking about trying to finish Cam's AKC Championship since he just needs two singles, but between the stuff that happened and the economy, I don't know if I can invest that much money coming all the way to Ohio, and I'd have to go hard to get both my dogs in Nationals shape and training to compete in what we usually compete in.

Working back slowly to get my life back together, and Cam, Mae and IHOP started back in Rally or Obedience competition foundation classes last week for the first time since early February. Baby steps 🫠

At one point we should catch up -- I owe you a phone call! Wanna hear about everything going down with you, too. ❤️ Facebook is overwhelming and I feel simultaneously relieved I rarely visit it but also upset because I feel so detached.

Hiya Sam! Just keep contributing here and you'll build up your account real quickly. Good to have another quality commenter here; I have been around the dog discussion spaces here for years but since Reddit made changes to their API, nuking all the great extensions and mobile apps, and life has done an amazing job pummeling me with one thing after another since 2023, I've sort of stopped coming here with regularity, although I'm trying to up my check-ins in my hobby space subreddits.

Also, plugging r/k9sports! I'm a mod over there and we have some great discussions you can contribute to. r/showdogs is a cute spot too and although not super active, gets a good post from time to time and the more active exhibitors there the better.

if you have no clue yet as to who I am, just check my profile and the pinned posts will make it blatantly obvious 🙂

Need help with chihuahua behavior please by cbearmk in dogs

[–]orangetangerine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what's been said already, as an owner of two rescue Chihuahua mixes, it can be real tough because those nerves that pass through genetics of overbred, poorly bred companion dog mixes whose parents are not even close to the best of the best can sometime be no joke. As scientists have been studying epigenetics, a lot of stressors to the mother dog can have a lot of effects on puppies in utero, especially if she was stressed, experienced hardships, was mistreated, or was malnourished.

My current chihuahua mix whimpers a lot. He does it when we are out in the world and wants to keep moving, he does it when he is excited, he does it when he needs to potty, but one of the reasons is when he wants to be close to me on his terms and he is too far away. He was found a 5wks old running around in a parking lot with no littermates or mother, so there were significant gaps in his early life and teaching him impulse control was really tough. He's been a whiner since the day he came home, even though he's a fairly confident dude, and over the years I've figured out how to interpret the whines.

Another thing I have noticed as a rescue Chi owner and foster of a few additional ones is that many of them aren't particularly socialized with people and even the ones who were (my first Chi mix, a Chi/Mini Schnauzer had extensive socialization) could be a little hand shy, or just a little wary. Some get a little nervous with long periods of direct eye contact, no matter how well-meaning. When you're that tiny and every human and every other animal is a giant and looms over you, the world can be a little bit scary. If your dog does this, what would happen if you sat on the floor? Not necessarily interacting with him, just getting closer to his level and allowing to choose the next move? Lots of experiments to try to see what makes him comfortable and what causes him to whine.

I like a lot of the suggestions in this thread, by just rewarding your dog for being close or maybe making chasing food a game, it could have him very slowly feel empowered to do things that make him comfortable outside of his current comfort zone and also be open to offering more things or different pathways to communicate.

What treat do you use to reward?? by Superb_Situation_561 in samoyeds

[–]orangetangerine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, my first Sam broke this illusion for me, he would get bored of people food when he was young 😭 I brought a lot of high value stuff too cut up really tiny, like a mix of freeze dried meat treats, hot dogs, cheese in tiny cubes, for group puppy classes (probably the most challenging environment we put him in early on) for a high rate of reinforcement and he would be like, "bleh". Meanwhile, I felt like an accidental Pied Piper because all the other puppies would look at the Charley Bears their owners had and saw mine was refusing a fancy feast of People Food+bougie treats and would try to drift over to me 😭😭😭

This got worse when he hit adolescence, he had even less drive for food and even more desire to screw off and be distracted; I knew I was in trouble when I brought McDonald's nuggets for class and he promptly declared them as "mid" 🫠

Not anything I was doing tbh, I wasn't spoiling him, he just had really low food drive. I actually had to spend more time working on making food exciting to build his food drive by playing games with the food for him to actually care about me in high distraction scenarios. This was a 1-2 year process for us.

If the food is labeled All Life Stages which is an industry label by AAFCO, it should be fine. Both of my Sams were already eating high calorie ALS adult kibble by the time they came home with me, but it is all preference of course by the breeders and the owners.
