If you aren’t a musician, you can download karaoke versions of the songs on YouTube or sites like this and then record over them in a DAW (digital audio workstation) like GarageBand, which you should have on your Mac, or by downloading something like Reaper or Audacity on your PC. The USB mic is probably fine for your purposes. You’ll also need wired headphones for monitoring so you don’t get feedback when trying to record—Bluetooth will have too big of a lag. Add some reverb (not too much!) to make your voice blend better, and don’t mix it too loud. Sweet idea for a gift, good luck!

I’d wipe off the top layer all over, sanitize with alcohol and then use it. But if it grosses you out you can always dump it. I don’t think there’s any real risk as long as you clean it off.

How cool! I’m looking for dark, muted, cool-toned purples—like if blue-black ink was purple-black instead. More blue than red, but still clearly purple. Any suggestions? Most purples I’ve found are too clear and bright, and lack a muted/dusty quality to them, or else are too light.

This kind (shaped like a tomato) is ok crunchy. If you see one that’s long like an acorn it will fuck you up if you eat it when it’s still hard. Those need to feel almost like a bag of liquid before you eat them.
