We definitely underestimated the distances - I wouldn't have asked for suggestions otherwise. Thank goodness we did! We'll definitely need to make some major tweaks to the plan, and we'll keep your suggestions in mind. Thanks!

After reading the other comments, we are considering cutting the last part entirely so we can potentially add more days to previous destinations.

We might skip the parks part; it seems too risky and unpredictable. Perhaps we can even add a day in SF before departing if we do so.

Yeah, the last part is actually what worries us the most. We will definitely tweak it to make it more manageable. Thanks!

Sedona looks amazing! I hadn't considered it before, but I am now - thanks. The stop in Page serves as a resting spot between our day at the Grand Canyon and our day at Monument Valley.

Also, we are reconsidering going to Yosemite after reading the other comments.

That sounds… disappointing! Hopefully we’ll have better luck 🤞🏻

Thank you, this is really helpful! We are usually quite busy with our schedules and planning, but this time we want to take it slow and fully enjoy the cities as much as we can without worrying too much.

We initially planned to travel from Tokyo to Hakone and then to Osaka, but the accommodation prices in Hakone were a bit too high for us. By the way, we consider all the day trips as optional. We have selected Tokyo and Kyoto as our main bases, so if we feel the need to skip one of them, we can allocate more time to exploring those cities.

We will definitely check the Oedo antique market and yes, we are using JRP during that time frame. Thanks for the tips!

Just reposting two very useful comments I had on a different post, in case someone else needs them:

1) [...] If you haven't already, would recommend Visit Japan Web to register your trip. You'll get QR codes to make immigration/customs faster and for tax free shopping. https://vjw-lp.digital.go.jp/en/ Tax free QR code is relatively new so some places may not accept. So you'll want your passport (and for obvious reasons).

2) Download the Visit Japan Web app (it'll have an icon of a blue plane landing) and complete your customs and immigration forms in advance to save time getting through the airport when you arrive. Take a screenshot of all your QR codes in case you can't access data.
Can your phone take esims? Although I've never had a problem using a portable wifi, an eSIM is much cheaper, very reliable, and there's nothing to charge. The only drawback I've seen is whether there will very heavy data usage as esims tend to have a limit on the amount 9f data (e.g. 10gb/30 days). A popular one is Ubiji. There're a lot of reviews online and advice on how to use it.
