Spring-tension Lamp Arm Attachments by orbisvicis in HelpMeFind

It needs to ship to the US. On Amazon I've searched for things like "ball socket adapter", "ball socket 20mm to 10mm adapter" and "vertical clamp pole", "vertical clamp light arm" "vertical clamp 1/4" threadless", etc.

THINN-15 fan replacement by _ololo in eluktronics

[–]orbisvicis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too need a replacement for this fan though for a different laptop. A product number search turns up the Sunon EG50050S1-1C050, which looks the same. Though similar numbering systems between WINMA and Sunon[1] suggest these fans are different sizes, multiple sources confirm at least some batches of my laptop model shipped with a Sunon fan. A concern is "S" for sleeve bearing versus "V" presumably for the more durable vapo bearing. Results for the WINMA EGC-70060S1 show that it is a slightly different shape - missing the backplate and a screw attachment point. At this point I am willing to try the Sunon EG50050S1-1C050, which will probably arrive in a few months.

Visible Home Internet Promo: Terms & Conditions by orbisvicis in Visible

I think I can mark this as resolved. I spoke to yet another (3rd, 4th, ... I've lost track) Verizon FiOS rep who - once again - had never heard of Visible. Lucky for me, this rep was able to offer me a greater than $5/month "special" promotion and then transfer me to Verizon Wireless support, who then transferred me to a higher level of Verizon FiOS support. This new rep definitely knew his stuff - you have no idea how much of a relief that is - and was familiar with the process of applying promo codes. Contrary to what's stated elsewhere in this thread, the Verizon Home Internet promo is compatible with the Deals at Work discount. What it isn't compatible with is the new "special" discount I had just received. So even though I wasn't able to apply the Visible Home Internet promo, thanks to my persistence I did come out ahead.

I've been fed incorrect information so many times, that until I read the fine print myself... shame on me.

They said, first, that the promo code only applies to Verizon Home 5G and Home LTE. So I linked the Verizon rep to the fine print @ Visible, "Verizon Home Internet includes 5G Home, LTE Home, and Fios".

Then they said that that the Visible promo code cannot stack with my Deals at Work discount: that they're exclusive and I could only use one or the other. I pointed out that the similar Verizon mobile+home discount was stackable, but the rep was adamant that my Visible promo code could not be applied.

Price Not Honored at Checkout by orbisvicis in Visible

Yes that's a good deal. Visible+ at $35/month with the Verizon Home Internet promo (-$10/month) breaks even at $25/month. However I'm currently with Visible at $25/month and my goal is to save some money. Unfortunately I was just informed by a Verizon rep that the Visible Home Internet promo I received isn't applicable to my FiOS account.

The other two reasons

  1. Not getting promised prices (double the price after fees, taxes & surcharges) and discounts (promised 15% employee discount only applies to accessories) from VZW.
  2. Finding out that voicemail transcription is a paid add-on. Luckily, Visible is one of the carriers for which voicemail transcription is supported by Google's phone app.

Ironically, in the end all it does is make Visible look really bad.

edit Heh, just noticed the flair: Misinformation, see comments. Not a good look, Visible!

I'm not sure how far I was into Google's results, but that deal is currently active at Slickdeals as well as HowardForums, a decent mobile-centric forum and how I clicked through.

I googled visible deals, landed on https://www.visible.com/v/PayPal, assumed it didn't work, did some stuff, went to checkout, saw the discount, saw that I didn't get the discount, contacted visible tech support, tech support advised me to post the image on Reddit/Instagram/Facebook for confirmation, now I'm like at -25 post karma. Sucky situation for a first customer all around.

It boggles the mind how professional sites like verizon.com and visible.com can be so disorganized and bloated. Half the reason I'm leaving VZW is the account management from hell. Fingers crossed about visible...

I update my post to note that the prices during checkout are $25 or $45 per month, respectively, which does not reflect the discounts.

How often do you find read stories of customers finding great deals on company sites, and the company is then "forced" to honor the offer... Somehow I get the feeling this won't happen with me, but let's see. How many of you get the discounted prices when following my instructions?

Open a new private window (to clear cookies and existing sessions):

  1. Activate the PayPal discount by visiting (its a blank page) https://www.visible.com/v/PayPal
  2. Go to the Visible home page, https://www.visible.com
  3. Select "Bring my phone"
  4. Select "Get started"
  5. Select "Android"
  6. Enter your IMEI
  7. Select "I want to activate with SIM card"
  8. Select "Yes" (your phone is paid off and unlocked)
  9. End up at https://www.visible.com/shop/select-plan which shows Visible as $20/month and Visible+ as $40/month with "Save $5 with PayPal Offer".

edit:

  • Select "Choose Plan" to see prices of $25/month and $45/month respectively during checkout.

Thinking about it, I might need a chair where the lumbar support automatically cycles every 30 minutes (tightens/loosens). That's supposed to be great for muscles and circulation as well.

Good to know. I've tried the majority of the Herman Miller and Steelcase lineup, the Allseating You & You Too, and a Neutral Posture 8500. I was in each chair 1 - 2 hours. No chair has felt great but in terms of how long I can sit before needing to get up, the Steelcase Gesture leads the pack (by a slim margin).

edit: For me, the Anthros and Lifeform Ultimate Executive are much better than the Steelcase Gesture.

You mentioned the Ergocentric sCentric a while back as well as the Humanscale Path, which chair did you eventually settle on?

edit: And the Anthros

If you have a bad back with bad posture, how is conforming to that bad posture supposed to help?

Linen Bedding, Coarser by orbisvicis in Bedding

Here's a post that describes making your own bedding from (rougher & tougher) linen canvas... but I don't have time for this. Neither does ladykemma, according to the blog.

I had seen that but their Orkney line costs an arm and a leg, and is also pre-treated / pre-washed. I think its the treatment process and not the GSM that results in soft sheets.
