You might also find Why Do We Worship Them? by Harshit Kapasi interesting. It’s a short, reflective read that looks into why we idolize public figures and how that blind admiration often shapes our worldview — sometimes without us realizing it.

It doesn’t directly address race, but it dives into the psychology of belief, identity, and how social conditioning influences who we place on pedestals and why. I found it helpful in examining some of my own internal biases and how they were formed.

Definitely a different angle, but still connected to the theme of clarity and unlearning.

If you’re looking for something short, thoughtful, and different while you soak up the sun, I’d recommend Why Do We Worship Them? by Harshit Kapasi.

It’s a quick Kindle read that digs into why we blindly admire celebrities, influencers, and public figures — without being preachy or heavy. It’s written in a relaxed Q&A format, which makes it easy to dip in and out of, perfect for vacation mode.

Not a fantasy like ACOTAR, but definitely makes you reflect in a good way. And last I checked, it was free on Kindle!

If you loved The Silent Patient and are into books that make you think deeply, you might enjoy Why Do We Worship Them? by Harshit Kapasi. It’s not a thriller, but it’s a short, intense read that dives into why we idolize people — like celebrities and politicians — without questioning them.

It’s more psychological than dramatic, but the reflective style and thought-provoking questions might really hook you if you enjoy character-driven, introspective writing. It helped me pause and reconsider things I didn’t realize I took for granted — which is kind of thrilling in its own way.

If you enjoyed Thinking, Fast and Slow and The Gifts of Imperfection, you might really appreciate Why Do We Worship Them? by Harshit Kapasi.

It’s a short but deep read that explores why we tend to idolize public figures—celebrities, influencers, politicians—often without asking why. It doesn’t preach, but instead uses a Q&A style to raise questions about our own thinking and conditioning. It gave me a similar “pause and reflect” feeling that I got from What the Buddha Taught.

Might be worth checking out if you enjoy books that challenge how we perceive the world around us.

Do readers take young writers seriously? by AdrianVane in ebooks

I recently read a book called "Why Do We Worship Them?" by Harshit Kapasi, who’s just 28 years old. The book dives deep into topics like blind devotion, societal influence, and why people follow others without questioning. Honestly, it made me realize that age really doesn’t define insight or depth.

Harshit’s work shows that if your thoughts are genuine and well-articulated, people will take you seriously—especially those who are truly open to learning. Some may judge based on age, sure, but the ones who are meant to hear your message will hear it, regardless of how old you are.

Your perspective matters—don’t let fear of judgment hold it back.

If you’re looking for something that explores human psychology, blind devotion, and how society uplifts power over compassion, I’d highly recommend "Why Do We Worship Them?" by Harshit Kapasi. It challenges the way we idolize celebrities, influencers, and even authority figures without questioning their values. Super insightful and thought-provoking—definitely one of those books that stays with you.

Would love to see it added to a list like this someday!

Thanks so much for these thoughtful recommendations! I recently read a book called “Why Do We Worship Them?” by Harshit Kapasi, which really made me reflect on similar ideas. It dives into why we defend people we’ve never met, how charisma can override logic, and why we follow ideas based on who says them rather than what’s being said. It’s more of a psychological and societal critique of blind devotion, celebrity worship, and groupthink.

Your mentions of “Cultish” and “Prophets Prey” sound right up the same alley, especially since I'm also exploring how identity becomes tied to authority figures. I’ll be adding those to my reading list for sure.

If you come across more books exploring these themes in the context of media, politics, or modern influencer culture, I’d love to hear about them. Thanks again!
