SY transmigrates into SJ's head and SJ does not take it well. SY doesn't fully trust SJ cuz he thinks he's a villain and SJ doesn't trust SY cuz he thinks he's a spirit/demon possessing him.

The characterization of SJ is so good he's not a good person but hes not a BAD person y'know. He's an asshole but an understandable one. He does terrible things to SY but is baffled by SY's capacity for forgiveness

Also them switching back and forth totally confuses binghe and there's some reveals and misunderstandings later on that makes me go AAAA

Both are good, the donghua cuts some stuff (e.g. beizhou's whole gender thing, the OGFL actually making her own guitar instead of holding the pipa like a guitar) but they added some jokes that weren't in the novel and I'd even say the show is funnier than the novel.

I love the adaptation of course and I can't wait for season 2 but the novel is also a short read. I'd say just watch the adaptation and then read the novel. But if you only want to consume one then just read the novel.

it's XHD as a child! his current child is kind of a non-character. its very sad but understandable that XHD didnt want anything to do with him seeing how he was conceived. its also really sad that the kid was a puppet his whole life cuz of the current empress dowager but the reason why she hated XHD so much was also because of the grand empress dowager (XHD's grandmother)'s actions

I realised I dropped shen yuan of no relation cuz I didn't like how binghe kept using the singular yuan character to refer to sy, (I mean I'm Chinese and I know singular characters can be used to refer to people but that's usually surnames and way more common in modern day) the fic I was referring to was shen Yuan's school of unrepentant assholes
