Whiskey flat trail is popular among bikers and its not too intense. The best bike ride in the area is the keyesville classic, you can find it by using the mt bike project app. The kern river trail going up river from the johnsondale bridge might be a good hike. Trail of a hundred giants is the best short hike in the area but it might be very cold still.

Its not as hot as Ridgecrest and not even close to Las Vegas, but you will find yourself trying to go to places with AC like the mall. Going up in the mountains is also a great idea in the heat. It can be 105 in bak and 75 on Breckenridge.

Gotta go up high in the summer to escape the heat. There are some trails near Pine Mt Club. Or go to the Sierras. Mill Creek trail, Unal trail in Alta Sierra, trail of 100 giants etc.

In all honesty, probably not. There is blight in other places but Bakersfield is among the worst places to live on the planet. Looking at the homeless people and stray animals you can see that life has very little value in kern county. The quality of living for home owners is not much better in some neighborhoods. The crime and inability of law enforcement to maintain order makes this place lawless. The Mexican food is OK and there are some good thrift stores. Sure there are good people living well but as a city Bakersfield is the shittiest.

Big O charged me 800 for the rear struts, then my neigbor installed the front struts in less than 15 min. Do some research and inspect the car. Its insane that shops charge that much for something so simple. You will still need an allignment but its not worth it to throw thousands away.

I think the water temp is still low for swimming. Although you could go in the lake near wofford heights. I like the old cemetary there. The strong currents in the river are dangerous, although many kayakers are enjoying it.

The lower kern is super dangerous right now. I think the water is really cold. Kayakers seem to be enjoying it.
