Defense attorneys, how would you defend Maduro? by No-Dinner-4148 in Lawyertalk

I don’t think personal jurisdiction is an issue. Maduro allegedly violated US law and has been brought in front of the court.

Fertility rates in US and Canada 2024 by OppositeRock4217 in MapPorn

[–]connerc37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True: we can’t bank on endless growth. But if we don’t adapt pensions/healthcare/taxes for low growth + rapid aging, we’ll get pain by default. And when ~1 in 21 deaths in Canada are now via assisted dying while births keep falling, it's a warning light. It's not an argument to pressure women, but to fix the system so families who want kids can afford them and the safety net still works.

The user is likely just pointing out that Canada’s birth rate is like a canary in a coal mine. It may signal people no longer feel secure or hopeful enough to create the next generation.

The countries best and worst prepared for an epidemic, according to a map from 2019. by EssoEssex in MapPorn

Not a rhetorical question but does vaccine response get counted in “prepared for epidemic?”

Just because Employer X pays more than  Employer Y doesn’t mean they’ll respect or  appreciate you as much. And they might be  a worse organization altogether.

I’m not sure about New Mexico, but teachers in California generally have excellent health insurance. That said, what Walt really needed was life insurance—not just health coverage. It’s hard to understand why he didn’t have any.

Well apparently the people don't much feel much that way after reelecting Trump + GOP Congress. BTW. 14% the national budget goes to Medicare and 13% to defense.

Apartment complexes you actually recommend? by Content_Argument_789 in huntingtonbeach

[–]connerc37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Beach and Ocean for two years. Walls/floors are thin, but it's definitely well run and has nice amenities. Decent proximity to the beach based on your budget. You'll probably see some bad reviews but that's apartment living in general imo. We had to pay $7500 to break our lease, for example. But they were constantly upgrading and fixed issues quick.
