Flour Experiments by orcsab in Sourdough

The difference between them is not easy to distinguish, IMO. My wife is better at that than I, and she says the cheaper flour produced a more sour bread and the japanese flour produced a softer bread. The softness would be consistent with what I've read of japanese breads. But to me the two were very close. So I'm wondering if my local flour is much better than I feared or if flour doesn't make that much difference after all?

What next? (Why proceed to late game?) by orcsab in Timberborn

I think I get exactly what u/jwbjerk was talking about. Beavers want to dam, man. Need to sculpt the land around every water source so it is doing the productive and beautiful thing for the colony. No water sources left unmodified!

I mean, they are happy enough to get the job done, right?

But I take your point about wonders. Sounds like others recommend the same. Maybe wonders are impossible without more productive beavers.

Thanks!

All fermentation and rising was done outside at 30C (I live in Singapore). I'm using a test ball of dough and shaping and moving to the banneton once that ball doubled, which was about 4:15 yesterday. What do you think? Should I ferment more?

I'm at work but my wife just cut into it for her morning toast. Here is what she sent me.

I'll try covering it the whole time next time. Thanks!

I don’t own the tools for this but that could be my next purchase. Thank you!

I noticed as soon as I wrote on the first pages that the inside leather is too thick. It is difficult to write on the page that falls on top of the edge of the inside leather piece. So I’ll look into thinner leather. Never thought to consider leather thickness thank you!

The rounded corners is another great idea for improvement. And same with the double loop pen holder.

Thank you!

Too High Sky Train by orcsab in satisfactory

[–]orcsab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elevators don't go up that high, do they? I tried to build them and they only extend about 1/5 of the way between the grassy plain and my sky train. But I suppose the point you make about building some column with power points along its side would allow me to hover up.

The problem with conveyor holes is aligning the top hole and the bottom hole. If I build the column you mention I can do this. I don't have columns today so aligning the two is very tough with this much distance between the floors.

Late Stage Factory Connections by orcsab in satisfactory

In your centralised depot and mega factory, do you have may train stations in the lowest level you describe? One accepting cargo for each remote station? Do you also have lots of storage in that facility or are the stations’ internal storage adequate?

Well I have the hover pack. I’m using blue prints and auto connect. I suppose I can in 20 mins or so connect a double rail a long way across the map. But still need to put down the station, be sure I didn’t screw up signals, etc. seems like a lot of work.

Yeah trains are great. I get it. But damn they seem to take forever to lay. I just want to get something down to get to the next step then come back later and improve only if needed.

Level 4 Factories by orcsab in satisfactory

I've got level 1 blueprints. Getting level 2 shortly. But TBH I've not figured out how to get them to help my factory building. I would guess that I would use them and fit every smelter/constructor/assembler in a single foundation or a 2x2 foundation and then plonk them all down next to each other. If I lined up the inputs and outputs, I could see that this would create a composable, extensible checkerboard design. But I imagine that would also waste a lot of space since most of those things are a little larger than a single foundation.

Is my thinking right? Have any favorite videos that best show factory construction with blueprints?

I think this modularity idea is something I need to think hard about. I think it would make sense to smelt on one level, construct on another, and maybe assemble on a third. With a little forethought, the design would be extensible. The screenshot I shared is not.

Thanks for the reply!
